So, my FI and I really want to host a party after our RD for our OOT friends and family (the night before our wedding.) I think that it would be a good chance to see everyone and get some extra 1:1 time with them. Here is my question is: is it rude to plan a party (I'm thinking about something low-key, maybe just a room in a bar near the hotels we've blocked) and not pay for our friends' drinks? We're open to paying for them, but have some concerns that the bill may get crazy since everyone will be walking and our wedding isn't until 6:30 PM the next day so people won't need to wake up early. I considered just offering to pay for beer and wine, but for whatever reason FI doesn't like this idea and feels it should be all-or-nothing.
And, what do you think the best way to invite people to this would be? We want to keep it casual, and I was planning on word-of-mouth. Does this seem sufficient, or should I include it on the website- or even mail invites?
