In need of a dj

My fiancé and I are trying to find a great dj to play at our reception. We checked out one dj and they quoted us a low quote of $4000 and a high one of $5150! Now this was the first dj we went to see so we were completely caught off guard. What we were wondering is what is a fair price for a dj?

Well it depends what you are looking for in your dj package.  We used Turntable Events and paid about $2,000 for everything and they were phenomenal.  They use old school vinyl turntables so they're different than most wedding DJ's.

www.TurntableEvents.com is their website.  Definitely worth looking into.

    Good luck!

Yikes!  That seems expensive!  You could get some bands for those prices!!  My sister was married last year also and had a DJ and she paid around $1500 to $1700 for them.  And they were awesome!  I am almost positive that it was DJ Gaza.  HTH!!

Whoa! That's a steep price. I suggest shop around more. Since I we are DJ shopping too, we've seen an average of $1.3G asking price for a Wedding DJ in NYC. It also depends on the extra services that goes with the package. If you have a budget, try to stick to it if you can. We are shaving off services from the DJ/MC package that we don't need and we are trying to get a better deal. Negotiating for the price and things you want is tough but it's worth it. Good luck!

I used DJ Gaza, and he did everything from ceremony music to cocktail hour and throughout the reception. I think it was around $1500. Definitely worth checking into!
