Georgia Bride

I didn't want to threadjack the open letters post.

Do you get eczema on your hands?

  • Aw, Georgia!  That sucks!   I've never even heard of that before.

And I guess we have a new troll?

[QUOTE]My doctor said I have Granuloma Anulare. It basically looks like I'm covered in angry mosquito bites, and the first time I went to the doctor, he just said it was a viral skin condition and would go away with some Prednisone. Well, it almost went away, but not completely and when I went back, that's when he told me it was GA. He said it'd go away on its own in 3 or 4 months (awesome news for my cruise in three weeks), but online it says it could be 2 years, and this morning I read a couple of things where people suffer for years and years. Usually it's fine, but some things irritate it and it gets really inflamed (like a particular lotion that will be thrown away this evening). It's now on my arms and legs, but when it was really bad (when I went to the doctor the first time) it had pretty much covered everything but my chest, neck, and face. My mom had a milder version recently, so I've been using her steroid cream and I have some more Prednisone that I've been taking, but it doesn't seem to do anything. So I'm just rashy.

awww. I'm sorry.  That sucks.  I don't have your rash, but I constantly have one somewhere. Right now I have an awesome dry patch on my side.  Every time nick sees me scratching, he yells at me.

  • It actually makes me feel better that I'm not the only one with unsightly hands, but I mean that in a nice way, not a "ha ha, y'all have ugly hands too!!" kind of way.
  • Georgia, I had a rash that spread over my entire body that was misdiagnosed for almost 2 years.  I figured out on my own that it was a gluten allergy.  Maybe stay away from gluten for a week or so and see what happens?

  • haha!

I get so self conscious.  I had a friend at work one time who saw my hands when they were peeling...and yes I know they get gross, but she freaked out.  I was like "thanks buddy."  As if I'm not self conscious enough about it.

HA!  I constantly yell at the dog to stop scratching.  And then DH yells at me to stop scratching in the same tone.

  • I have eczema on my hands too.  If I don't take care of my hands, they can get REALLY bad.  Even when I do take care of them, they're still not completely normal.  I have to be really careful about getting cleaning chemicals on my hands, and I never use alcohol-based hand sanitizer because it would just kill them.  It's such a pain.
  • Good call, Tide. I might just do that and see what happens (but not today, as I've already polished off a bag of Sun Chips).

I originally thought it was poison ivy or something, because the first day it showed up, I'd been pruning bushes in my front yard. If only it'd been that easy.
