Bridesmaids Question

Hi everyone, I rarely post anything but this question has been bothering me so much and I just need an honest answer. This is my story.

I got engaged almost 2 years ago...for the first time. I asked 3 of my friends to stand up with me and they all said yes. Then my fiance and I broke up. We were split for about 3 months and then got back together but did not go back to considering ourselves engaged because quite obviously we had some work to do to get back to that point. We just got engaged again a year later and I'm planning again. I was thinking a lot about what I want to do with bridesmaids, i'm not as close to the girls I asked anymore within the year that my fiance and I split up we kind of grew apart. So is it wrong of me to change my mind now and just put family members in my wedding? I mean I asked these girls to stand up with me 2 years ago when we did everything together and now we rarely see each other at all. 

Just let me know honest opinions and thank you for listening to my sob story!!

I agree, if it was 2 years ago, I think you can consider this a fresh start.  Especially if you have decided to go with all family.

I think it would be fine to have family members.  If you're not as close as you once were, I doubt they would expect (or even want) to be bridesmaids just because you asked them 2 years ago.

Thank you, Thank you!! That has me so relieved. It just goes to show that sometimes it's better to go with just family cause they'll always be my family and I won't have to go back to my pictures and ask myself who the people are that are standing next to me!

I agree with the others, I think you have a fresh start here.

I agree with ILoveMilkDuds.

The best advice would be to be as diplomatic as possible. Let them know they are still important to you, but that family is for ever. I think most people will be understanding.
You could assign them some important jobs on your big day to help them feel included and to help them feel like you trst them with big responsibilities on your most important day.

Agreed with everyone else - if you're not as close, I'm sure they won't expect it.
Also, the only jobs I'd assign them are "sitting at a table, eating good food, and having a great time."

I agree, and since it's family, I can't see the original bridesmaids feeling hurt, either, as they might be if you'd selected a new batch of friends.

You could always ask them to do a reading or something.

The only other thing I can think of is- did they buy dresses for your wedding the first time? In that case, they're probably thinking they'll finally be able to wear that dress hanging in the closet. Other than that, you're in the clear.

If they are still your friends and you not on bad terms let them decide. Besides they going to be at the wedding anyway. They may feel just like you and decide to be a witness to the occasion.
