Destination Wedding invitation...local reception invitation

We am having a destination wedding with only a few family members, however we are having a reception back here a week after the wedding.  How do I go about the wedding/reception invitations?  I want to keep the destination part small, and the reception part bigger.  Any ideas would be helpful!

Thanks!

  • Send invitations for the reception only, and include a small insert about the ceremony for only those invited to the ceremony.  Be sure to get them all the travel info they need ahead of time though so they can make arrangements.

So for the main invitation, instead of saying "the pleasure of your company is requested at the marriage of" you would say "the pleasure of your company is requested at the celebration of marriage of" or something like that.  At the bottom, you can put "Lacey and FI were married in a private ceremony on xyz date"

  • My FI and I are doing the same thing.  We are mailing out two seperate invitations, but at the same time so that those who are not invited to the wedding don't feel like they are being left out.  Our DW invites are your traditional invites.  Our "party" invites are less formal since we are just going for a party.  We aren't having a full on reception just a party so we can celebrate with our friends and family who either we not invited to the wedding or who could not make the wedding.
