1st Birthday

So my brother's girflriend's baby is turning one in a few days. We all spend a lot of time together and we're pretty close. I have a nephew and little brothers... but we have no girl babies around here... I'm so excited about it, I think I've already bought her 15 outfits. 
What do you suggest as a fabulous 1st birthday present for a little girl?

Honestly, she's one. She won't know it's her birthday. Clothes, baby supplies etc are probably the way to go here, no?

I like buying books, so I'd probably google popular toddler books and go from there. We only have boys in my family too, so I'm crossing my fingers that we have a girl just for funsies {when we have a baby, that is. I'm not KU at the moment}.

I'm with Georgia - Andy always gets a book with whatever fun present we give him, and he has, ever since he was brought home.

I got Madelyn a SUPER cute rocking chair with her name on it from mybambino.com.

SHE LOVES IT. And I got her some books to go with it, too.

Oh, books are a good idea! Since I'm going to be a teacher, I should probably promote that anyways. I bought her some little bows at Claire's a couple of weeks ago because it was BOGO so I thought about making a basket.. books would be a good thing to add to it!

they're all so cute. i don't think it would get here in time though, the party is on Sunday... and I don't feel like expressing it.

Everytime anyone asks what I want them to get Jocelyn I say books.  You can never have too many books!  At this age, soft books or thick page cardboard books are best.  Also books with different textures such as buttons, fur, zippers - that sort of thing.

Also, if you want to get something 'fun' you could always get her washable finger paints and some paper, or those crayons that they hold onto in the little character balls (i forget what they're called but they're made by Crayola).

When my nephew turned 1 I got him a mini wooden kids adirondack chair, it had a cute frog painted on it.

If you wanted something special/memento-ish you could get her a jewellery box, or something along those lines.

You can also look at Target. They have really cute bean bags. Do they have a backyard? We got Jordyn a small pool for her bday. She is a fish to this day!

Right now they're in a one bedroom apt! They are moving to a two bedroom when one opens up.. so space is also an issue!

just clothes. they grow so fast at this age that parents can't keep up with the buying of clothes. I'll be buying my nephew clothes for his birthday. although... I did get my cousin's little girl a tutu that was custom made on Etsy.

I still have a stuffed animal from my 1st birthday...I would say get her something that she can keep forever. Really soft, cuddly stuffed animal or a special blankey...

When my niece turned 1 I got her a water globe with her favorite Disney character, Ariel, the Little Mermaid. Our grandfater always got us a water globe before he died so I decided to continue the tradition with her. It had an engravable plate so I wrote 1st Birthday and her name. It's a keepsake she'll have when she gets older.
