What do you remember from a wedding?

Re: What do you remember from a wedding?

  • The food for sure, which for my wedding next year I am having issues with already because I am a vegan now, for medical reasons!

Also the dress, the colors and the decor of all areas!.

  • I remember the ceremony and the overall feel of the wedding.  I went to two family weddings about 8 years ago that had completely different atmospheres- one you knew they were celebrating a Sacrament (Catholic) and the ceremony was beautiful.  The other... not quite the same :)

I remember the toasts and like other people have said-  different good and bad from different weddings.

I had a cousin get married the week before my best friend did. My cousin's wedding was amazing!! The centerpieces were great, the food was good, dancing started immediately and they never really stopped for an official dinner.   The location was phenomenal and the centerpieces were beautiful.  And as great as her wedding was- I had much more fun at my best friend's wedding the week after!  My best friend's wedding was more simple, but the overall atmosphere was the same!

Best cake: a wedding last summer
Best food: a friend's wedding 5 years ago
Best music: my cousin's wedding 9 years ago
Most fun: FI friend's wedding- I didn't know anyone until the RD... and their wedding was awesome.
Craziest: tied for three weddings, three different reasons.  1. bridezilla wedding 2. jerry springer wedding (bride opening envelopes with her dress half off -tank top on- at the reception. Klassy) 3. FI friends wedding- the caterers were cleaning up before we were done eating, and took away the wine at the tables before we were done eating!

Dancing and food, if it is particularly wonderful. And it does not matter what someone else comes away with from your wedding, it's YOUR day! So, do what you want!

  • i'm also kind of banking on food being something that people remember.

I think people remember if its exceptionally bad or exceptionally good.  We're doing a clambake, because I wanted "real food" (in the words of my brothers).  Our entire menu is stuff that people can recognize when they see it.  No fancy sauces or side dishes - even though I like some fancier fare, there are definately some people coming that are just meat-and-potatoes types.

Now ... our cake is something special.  Its something that I will stress to the guests that they have to try.  We got both a wedding cake and a grooms cake, and they are both equally to die for.  I can attest to this after TWO cake tastings ;)
  • I've been to 2 weddings in the past year and I remember if the food was good or not... not neccessarily what the food was.. just yummy or not yummy... the main thing I remember when I look back at those weddings was how fun they were decorations and wedding dress mishaps all add to it, but the overall feeling of the wedding... was I comfortable enough to enjoy my time with them... did I get to see them at all lol
  • Laughing  You guys sre going to think this is a trip but the last TWO weddings I have gone to I remember the port-o-potties the most. This company delivered a trailer that had music piped in, the counters were made of granite , they were air conditioned and decorated in the same theme as the weddings! I laughed because people were coming to the tables and saying....."hey, you've got to go to the bathroom! You won't believe this!"
So I'd have to say....Restrooms! that's what I remember the most! lol
  • How good the food was and the music!
  • I remember the fun!  Did I have fun, did everyone have fun?
I remember the decor, too.  Was it nicely decorated, a theme, enough, etc.
Sorry, but I never remember the food.  It doesn't matter, I get food everyday.  I, of course, wasn't involved in the food decision for my own wedding!  That's his department because he cares about it more than I do.  Guess it depends on each individual.

  • i remember the food only if it was truly bad, like the couple who served frozen pizza bagels at their reception. but i ALWAYS remember the dancing--if the music was good or bad. and i remember if they do tacky things like garter games and battle of the sexes. i also remember any unique cultural touches, like the russian/israeli band or Filipino songs.
