RSVP-How soon before wedding to request response?

Hey girls!
I'm getting desperately close to the deadline for invites and am frantically working on wording so I can get everything going.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the wording on the RSVP cards? I found some via Google, but am not sure I am super-excited by them.

More importantly, how do you decide when the guests should RSVP back to you? Our food choices are due to the venue 2 weeks before the ceremony and the food contract and payment are due 10 days before the ceremony. Is three weeks before the wedding day too long, too short?

    Based on your ticker, it looks like you have about 6 weeks before you need to get too flustered about the invites...it's going to be ok.

    I used some of the more untraditional wordings for the RSVPs, but I knew that would work for my friends, so that might not work for you...i posted a pic somewhere...I'll see if I can find it.

    3 weeks pre-wedding sounds fine...it gives you a week after the deadline to call stragglers/non-responders.

    I did a month before the wedding as my deadline and I am very glad that I gave myself that much time.  You have no idea how long it has taken me to get some people to answer.  The deadline was last Wednesday and I am still waiting on 3 people.  We are doing a plated dinner so I have to make a seating chart and all of the placecards specific for who is coming and what they are eating, which I can not finish until I hear back from everyone.  So if I had only given myself 3 weeks I would not have had enough time to get my venue the numbers 2 weeks before the wedding.

    We have to have our final numbers into our reception caterer one month before the date so we have to have our responses back to us by 6-8 weeks out from our date.

     I have to have numbers to the caterer 2 weeks before.  Responses are due in 4 weeks out so I have 2 weeks to call around and check with people that haven't mailed in yet.
