Flaky Bridesmaid

Even though this is a zombie, thread, I feel like this is a question that is likely to pop up from news, hell I've struggled with my issue. Thankfully, I wrestled with this before even asking people to be part of my bridal party. My fi only has 3 groomsmen, but I wanted 7 bridesmaids, so we compromised and I would have 5 and this meant having to really evaluate who truly has been a close enough friend that I would feel happy standing at my side. There was one friend who a few years ago was one of my closest friends, but from her wedding and forward, I felt our friendship drifting apart, because she basically became very enwrapped with her own life but disregarded the fact that I have one too, and I realized that the people I want up there are people who I know and trust to have my back as I have theirs. Because of this friend's recent history of flakiness, I chose not to have her as a bridesmaid, but instead asked her to do a reading. Now all of this was decided before asking anyone of these ladies to be bridesmaids. So NOBODY got kicked out!
