sent out too many save-the-dates!

Ok - I have a huge dilemma!  I have about 180 people on my guest list (providing everyone brings a guest).  When I had sent out the save dates, I didn't really realize the limit on the reception room.  It can fit up to 135 people. I should've thought more before sending a save-the-date to everyone.  I hear that typically about 20% don't come to your wedding but that still leaves me extra people.  I don't know what to do!  I would hate to cut anyone because I know it's rude.  Anyone have suggestions?!

Thanks for your help!

  • Look for a different reception venue?

Lucky for you no one knows where the venue is so you can find a new one. You cant NOT invite them all now, and you also cant assume any certain amount wont attend. You cant forcast that.
  • did you put "and guest" on the save the dates? if not that looks like your best place to cut invites.

    That or change the venue!

  • This might seem obvious, but does your venue have multiple rooms?  Can the combine rooms to make it larger?

Ditto PPs. Find a new reception venue. And with 3 months left, it IS possible. I found another venue 5 weeks before my wedding.

  • You need to find a new venue.  One that can seat 180.  You always plan on 100% yeses until you actually get RSVPs.
  • Agree with the 'and guest' question.  If your friends don't bring guests will this bring the count down? Of course, if you put 'and guest' in the STD, you're obligated to allow them to bring one and therefore, need to find an alternative for your reception.
  • Find a new venue. You can't predict how many people will or won't show. And you certainly can't uninvite people.
  • Did you send STD's with the 'and guest'?

And how many of those who received  STDs are in relationships?
  • different venue.

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.
