1. I used to lurk AFSB all the time, pretty much kept up with everything going on over there and like them all a lot, but never posted.  Ever since they left the Knot and went to the Nest board, I have quit lurking.  Like it's too much trouble to go alllllll the way over to the Nest to lurk.  I don't know why that amuses me but it does.  I guess I was bored but not THAT bored.

2.  I thought this was funny.

1.  Last night I video Gchatted with FI and I was able to call my dog from 400 miles away.  Technology, dudes.  It's crazy.

2.  I flipped yesterday because my boss said I couldn't have 12/23 off for no good reason.  Turns out she just forgot I'd asked for it off, and said it's fine, so now I can book flights tonight and stop being a grinch about Christmas.

Brie - my H just had the same experience with Skipe, the video chat thing.  He got to video chat with his childhood through high school best friend who lives in Brazil now.  He was so happy!

Snarky Brides board used to be called Advice from Brides (AFB).  When their name changed, people started calling it AFSB, advice from snarky brides.

1.  I went home last night intending to log on and get back involved in the drama.  Then FI suggested we go get Thai.  That was a way better idea than surfing various forums.

2.  I have mixed feelings about Christmas this year.  It's always been my favorite time of year, but this year it seems to just remind me of how much I've changed and how much distance those changes have put between me and my family.

And you thought the changes that happen in your twenties just caused divorce.

It is pretty awesome.  I've never done video chat before, but now that I'm on the road so much for work it's great. 

Oh, and I'm also in a great mood because one of my best friends from college is engaged to a guy in the army who is stationed right near KC. We're having brunch on Sunday for the second time in the last month, which is awesome because I really missed having friends nearby!

Random thing I'm excited about: it's supposed to snow in Louisiana this weekend.  That makes two years in a row for a state that sees snow about once every decade.

I collect dolls and that story totally freaked me out.

Random thing: I can imitate the sound my cat makes when he gags on something (not throwing up...just gagging) and when I do it it makes both cats come running to me. FI thinks this is HILARIOUS.

Salt - do your cats knead before they lay down?  I know it's perfectly normal for cats to do, but our cat has NEVER done it until just recently.  He's 3 years old and never kneaded anything, but now in the last month or so, he does it at night when we get in bed.  He gets in bed with us, kneads around at our feet for a bit and then lays down.  It's a totally new behavior, just wondering if it means anything.

I've watched the Crayola Crayon Maker stock at my local Wal-Marts (within 20 miles) decrease steadily over the past few days, but I couldn't get there because of work. Now only one out of 7 local Wal-Marts still has them in stock, and it happens to be the one closest to my office. I'm leaving in 5 minutes to run up there before my afternoon meetings to grab one. Working sucks.

I'm about to put that cute little poem in the bathroom for all the disgusting cows who use it and can't clean up after themselves:
If you sprinkle when you tinkle,
Be a sweetie and wipe the seatie, you fucking nasty skank!

I laugh a lot in any given day.  A lot of times it's at myself.  I make myself laugh.  Apparently I'm hilarious.  When I am done saying something funny and busting a gut, I look at H and say "I'm so funny."  He usually agrees with me.

Dani - G doesn't knead...at least not that I've noticed. Sometimes Oskie does. Like sometimes I put a pillow in my lap and he will jump up to sit on it and he will knead at the pillow and purr and purr.

It's a normal thing though.

Bec, someone put that poem up in our bathroom (it is much needed) but with bizarre punctuation.  It's:

If you sprinkle;
When you tinkle, be a sweetie and wipe the seatie.

I guess like, if in general, you sprinkle other times than when you tinkle?  And before that, there was one where they spelled sweetie "sweatie".  Just because sweet and seat sound the same, it doesn't mean they're spelled the same!

Dani, one of our cats is a HUGE kneader and she's always done it.  Our male cat does it really randomly and he only does it in secret, when he thinks we're not watching--like once every 3 months or so we'll catch him kneading his bed in the middle of the night.  We didn't know for a long time that he did it at all.  It's totally normal though.

Dani, I've read that the kneading is a sign of contentment.  One of my cats does it all the time.  The other will randomly do the "four footed stomp" on my feet.  Basically, she kneads, but with all four feet, and she uses the big flat part of her back legs.  It's a fantastic massage.

Well that's good then!  I did recently change our comforter to an old one that we had when we first got him. Maybe he recognizes it and likes it better than the other one!

Also, my orange cat has kneaded from day one, but it took my black cat about a year to start doing it, but now he probably does it more than the orange one. They both like kneading on my soft belly. Every time I sit on the couch. All evening long.
