Dyson ball

I need a new vacuum. Anyone have it? Would you recommend it?

Re: Dyson ball

  • I can't justify spending $500 on a vacuum, but that's just me. We have a $50 Bissell from Walmart and it works perfectly.

  • We have a very awesome dyson. Ours isn't the ball one, though- it's one of the non-upright ones. We got it a few months ago and ADORE it, it is amazingly fantastic (and worth every $ of the $650 we spent on it).

Don't knock the dyson until you've used it, GG! ;P
  • What its $500!? Nevermind on that idea. I need a good one though.
  • I have it.  I love it like its my child.  I got the smaller Dyson ball, because at the time I lived in an apartment and because it's $100 cheaper.  It works wonderfully, but my only complaint about the smaller one is the cord is too short now that I'm in a house with an open floor plan.

If you're thinking about getting one, get it at BB&B with a 20% coupon.  I saved $80 on mine.  Also, some girls on the C&O board have mentioned buying refurbished used ones off some website.  Might want to pop in over there and ask.

  • Our is just like this one: http://www.appliancist.com/dyson-animal-dc23-vacuum.jpg

We didn't want the upright- even though with the ball they are very smooth to use- because we have a three-level house and carrying an upright up and down the stairs seemed like far too much work.
  • My rugs really suck and its so hard to pick stuff up with any vacuum I have had.

  • Sun - Even if it was the best vacuum on the planet, I still wouldn't spend over $100 for it. Nooo way. If it was a gift, that'd be something else (I know a lot of people register for it.)

  • If they are really worth it then I think the money will be well spent, I have bought about 4? over the last year so.
  • I would say they're certainly worth the money- but I am biased.

The amount of crap it continues to pull out of our carpet distrubs me greatly.

thats what I need a vacuum to do! Thanks for the input.
  • Make sure you get one with the head that has the rotating thing inside (great description! haha. but you'll see what I mean when you go). It doesn't have to be an electric rotating thing, the ones that work via air are also really good- it beats the carpet and gets lots of dust and junk out that you never realised was there to begin with.

If you do get one, be prepared to be emptying it frequently- not because of the size of the vacuum, but because of the amount of dust it picks up.
  • Whoa, 4 in one year!? Do they just keep breaking?

  • Two of them wouldnt pick up anything from these rugs and two broke (one my fault = dropped it down the stairs). I hate these damn rugs.

Sun. thanks! I am going to look at them tomorrow.
