To Invite or Not To Invite?

Hi Ladies!

I don't know whether or not to invite these people... A friend of FMIL is going to be doing our flowers, and one of the reverends from her church will be performing our ceremony. FI has known the rev for quite a long time, but the person doing our flowers, not so long. I don't know either of them in any capacity but this. Since they are friends of FMIL, do you think we are required to invite them (as well as their significant others)? We're trying to keep our guest list around 100, and (not to sound like a jerk), but I'd like to invite a couple more friends rather than people we don't know that well. Both the florist and the reverend know each other (the florist attends the same church), so I don't want to cause any issues inviting one and not the other either! Aaahh! I'm just not sure what to do!

Are you paying these people? If so, there is no reason to invite them. If they are performing these jobs, which people ordinarily get paid for, because of their friendship with FMIL, then you should probably ask FMIL for her thoughts on the subject.

  • My FMIL ended up verbally inviting our florist who she also knows.  I am not sending her an invitation though. If she shows up, she shows up, whatever. I won't be too happy.

If your FMIL hasn't already invited her, put your foot down. Don't. If you have to ask, you don't want to.

The Rev.. I'd invite him though, with his SO if he has one!

This.  If she is doing it as a favor to your FMIL, and not getting paid, you should invite her.
