Mom, you are pissing me off.

She likes to leave me these messages on FB that are really snotty about not calling her, or trying to guilt me into having more contact with her-- it's annoying as fuuck.  Obviously, the more she batters me to call her, the more I don't want to.  She has 2 other daughters, freaking call them. GAH.  Why does she like to irritate me like that?  Also, she's 54.  Come on now, let's be above leaving snotty messages on FB, mmkay?

Re: Mom, you are pissing me off.

  • I'm so glad my mom doesn't have FB.  My aunt has it and that's bad enough.
  • That sucks, especially on FB because then it might make you look like a negligent daughter to people who don't understand the situation. I'm so glad my parents aren't on FB. My mom doesn't even know how to turn on a computer and never plans to learn.

Amoro, on a completely different note, I love your new sig pic! The sky is amazing and also? Nice booty. :) Your dress was perfect.

  • I get so annoyed because I'm generally very good about calling at least once a week, but since Christmas, we've had visitors and we're freaking exhausted and I don't want to call anyone.  I was going to call tomorrow but now I'm just annoyed.  Which I understand to be a childish reaction, but ergh.

Thanks Beatles. :)  It's one of our favorite photos.
  • Mom guilt is the worst. It's a special brand only they can employ. Hope you guys can catch up soon to her satisfaction!

  • What happened to the days of facebook being reserved for college students? It would have been great if those outside of the education realm (ahem...parents) would have stayed outside.

  • Good question, rach. I feel bad for a few of my friends whose parents and relatives joined and friended them, and then all of a sudden they don't use FB for RL stuff anymore because mom and dad can see their page. I even find myself being careful with language when I post on their pages. And we're all in our late 20's. It's weird.

  • Yes, I remember when you had to have a college email address to even sign up. I miss those days..
  • Ha!  I wouldn't have been able to sign up for Facebook at all since my college email had been deactivated for at least 4 years when I created my FB account.

Well, Amoro, you could always create a passive-aggressive FB message saying, "It's a shame that a grown adult has to leave passive-aggressive messages rather than picking up a freakin' phone."
  • Shoot, not just the parents-- the grandparents and the aunts and uncles too!!  I am ova it.

I shouldn't really be that surprised, my mom really is a teenager in mentality.  Can't take care of herself to save her life and acts like she's the most forgotten woman in the world.  Probably a good thing I decided not to call her, I'm getting all worked up about it now. Ha.
  • Well--I think you have to have an ".edu" email address to join a college network--but that clearly doesn't stop anyone from joining.

My aunt, for instance, joined---under the name of her dog. For the purposes of stalking her own daughter. But, a dog? Hmmm.

    Oh, good point. Well, hmm
  • Yeah, I don't think I would have been able to join either. WTF with the mom who joined as a dog to spy on her daughter?  Did the daughter friend her family dog not thinking someone was behind it?

Oh lord. Is this something like Dogbook? I know there's a Catbook, so maybe that's a way to access someone's profile?

  • I have no advice, but I empathize.

We counted in my phone--since Thursday, my mom has called me 10 times.

  • My mom at least sends the snotty messages to my in-box on FB and doesn't post them on my wall.

  • So late to this thread, but my mother has been doing similar things lately. She gets upset I don't call her, and she'll call me but then, because she's annoyed, won't actually want to talk. We end up having 20 second silences, it's ridiculous. I can't maintain a conversation with myself, and no, at this rate I am not going to call you more frequently! It's not as though I don't see her- she lives an hour away so we see them quite frequently, thus I have nothing to say and don't call.

She calls her mother once a week, so she feels that we should do the same. Sigh.
