yeah. well, i am all but layed off. i work for a cpa and do hr/payroll processing. 6 months ago, my boss hired a girl named ashley who she has known since ashley was a little girl. ashley is now working towards her masters in accounting. ashley decided she wanted to start working full time so my boss decided that the only way to make that happen is give her my work to help her learn the payroll side of accounting and turn me into the front desk bitch. the catch? i'd have to move to the front office. there are 2 desks there. who sits in the other desk? my very stubborn mother in law. i'd have to work directly with her a lot. it has potential to be a disaster. add to that the fact that i'd be everybody's scanning/printing/bitch-work girl while answering the phone non stop during tax season and greeting/scheduling appointments for all of the clients...ugh. it's going to be a really demanding semester at school (my last semester and then i'll have my hr degree!) and i just don't think i can handle all of that stress. plus, the entire office knows about it now and i'll be so embarrassed.

oh, and the cherry on the top? every single person would have a full view of my computer screen. no more knotting during the day. ever.

steve knows how his mom is and doesn't want to deal with the potential for drama. he makes good enough money at both of his jobs for us to be ok if it takes me a few months while i look for a new job.  but he and i have been looking at houses and if i don't stay at this job we'll have to give up on that. we had an appointment for tomorrow morning to go see 8 houses.

i am just so so sad and confused.

Oh gosh that's horrible. I agree that it is not a good idea to stress youself out during your last semester. You want to end you school career well, right? 

 I also agree it might not be a good idea to work with your MIL. You don't want to burn that bridge. You have no reason to be embarrassed. You did not do anything wrong.

That's seriously effed up.  I would like to kick your boss for putting you in such a crappy situation.

If you were in Boston I could get you a job! I'm so sorry Sarah. That is the epitome of suck. If you can get by on one income and finish school though do it. You can always tell future employers you wanted to "focus" on school, that's what I did last year to finish my Master's.
