Who is around?

Re: Who is around?

  • Adamar, you're probably right that they'll be fairly self sufficient. I'll go ahead and apply... it's only one night for 5 hours, how bad could it be?

[QUOTE]I'm trying to decide if I should apply for a babysitting gig for this Thursday night. It's for 2 boys, ages 7 and 10, and I don't have a ton of experience with that age group, especially boys, but I do need the money.

<div>When I was younger I babysat two boys this age and they were the worst children ever, but I was quite young and didn't have much experience and that was the last time I babysat.</div>
  • I'm here and about to leave for home in about a half an hour.

I'm a little preoccupied because I decided to read the FFF and AYG from when I was gone. I'm sorry if I annoyed anyone with my excitement over my wedding (I'm just an excitable person and that's never going to change) and it really pisses me off that some thought it was just so I could have sex. It most definitely was not.

[QUOTE]I considered being a nanny - but after we decided to live in England I didn't think it would be fair of me to find a family and then leave them.<strong> I kind of think that if you're going to be a nanny you should be ready to be in it for the long term. </strong>

I used to think this, but I've had several families not need me anymore because their circumstances changed so now I don't feel as bad. If they can do it, why can't I?

ETA - I don't plan to take a job knowing I'm going to leave it, but I just mean I won't feel that bad if I took something and then something came up that made me have to leave.

<div>That is a good point - but I still think I'd feel guilty if I was employed by a nice family with great kids then up and left the country. Well, not that they wouldn't have enough notice, but still. For the short amount of time I'll be here I think it would be better to just let them find someone that's not leaving. Plus, that would just be more people for me to miss when I'm gone. </div><div>
    </div><div>Do I over think things? Yes I do.</div>
  • I'm on lunch/procrastinating work on TK. I just ate a giant bowl of salad and half a container of cilantro chimichurri hummus with italian herb pitas....

and I'm starting to wonder if the almonds that were in the package with the cranberries to top the salad are going to make me sick. I didn't eat them, but they were packaged as a "mix" with the cranberries and I picked the cranberries out to put on the salad. I'm allergic to cashews and possibly macadamia nuts, but haven't been known to be allergic to almonds, although I am feeling kind of iffy now, so maybe that was a bad idea.

Yup, you caught me. That's totally why I got married. ;)
  • Haha, Midge. I love your sig pic btw!
  • I think the whole sex thing, Midge, was a poorly worded joke, that some people just didn't pick up on.  Those people, not so smart, IMO.

But I'm happy for you!  You looked beautiful and very, very happy :)

  • Midge, I don't think anyone seriously thought that.
  • I'm reading the Dear Prudence thread on SB, where Chelsea stepped in it. Again.
  • I can't remember who originated it now Froggie because I've read the Flame Some Shiiit Tuesday thread on SB today, AYG from last week and FFF from June 8th now, well I searched my name anyway. It seemed serious to me but maybe that's because I only went looking because of the current SB thread so I had that in my head first, then AYG, then FFF.

  • Yeah, I read that whole thing Special.  And now AYG is all about it.  What a cluster.

  • Is my sig screwing up the page for anyone else? It's reminding me of Celles' lovely sig a few months ago. Should I change it? Am I imagining things?
  • Wooh! England scores!

I'm not gonna lie - we didn't even have sex on our wedding night. We were both too tired from being up early (both too excited to sleep in) and all the setting up beforehand. I think we had like 6 hours of sleep the night before the wedding. It was H's bachelor poker party and he came in first place. We did have a jacuzzi in the room though, so we relaxed for a good hour at least. That was soooo nice.
  • Ah, yes.  It got flamed in one of those AYG, but the dummy who flamed it thinking it was serious was referencing a thread where it was said in what I believe to be a joking manner.

I can see why you'd be upset about it though.

  • Special, your sig looks fine to me, although it looks smaller than it did before. It's not screwing up the page though.

<div>Your sig looks lovely - and hasn't screwed up anything for me. Don't change it : )</div>
  • Okay, I feel slightly better now. I had my angry eyes on before I even read it so I probably just blew it out of proportion in my head. Still don't really understand the being too excited thing but I know it's not for everyone. H calls me a little ball of energy often.

Special, your sig looks fine to me.
  • Oh, and the quote in my sig? It's there as a reminder to myself to try and be nice in every day life. I'll get bored with it and change it to something else soon enough. Anyone bothered by it can just skim by.

<div>I guess I can understand someone being annoyed at someone talking about it every other sentance or something. But honestly, is there anyone that isn't excited about their wedding? I was excited as hell for mine. I could barely stand still the day of haha.</div>
  • And Poke, I kept most of it to myself honestly. I just have more energy/excitement than most people in general, or so I've been told.

I'm leaving work now though. Talk to y'all later.

  • Oh, Midge - I wasn't saying that you were talking about it nonstop because you weren't, I was just saying that I would find that annoying in general.
  • Hi ladies! I'm sitting at the car wash. My mom is crazy, and wanted her car washed inside and out even though I'm taking it to the beach tomorrow. There is the cutest little boy watching all the cars going through the wash. He's so excited, I love it.

Dude how is it 4PM already? I've literally accomplished nothing.

ETA - Eagles, I didn't see that you were here. I just paged you :)
    imageWedding Countdown Ticker
  • Hello Eagles - I am jealous of your pedicure. I got one before the wedding and it still looks good, but I'm tired of orange and want something different.

Sara - watching little kids get so excited about stuff gives me the warm fuzzies.
  • I have never had a pedicure. I'm afraid someone will judge my ugly feet (during the pedicure). I have issues with feet. I fully understand that this makes me weird.

By "screwing up the page" I mean when I scoll past one of my posts, it kind of lags a bit, then skips past the pic. I made it a little bit smaller, since it was obnoxiously huge earlier.
  • I want a pedicure but I have zero dollars, so that won't be happening. I do hope to get a mani/pedi before the wedding I'm in in a few weeks though. Shiiit, I still haven't gotten that dress altered. I need to call about that like, now.
