Monday Morning Question

Happy Monday, Knotties!

This morning my FH and I were talking about how much we hate Monday mornings. He said that people should be able to choose if they want to work on either Fridays or Mondays but not both.  Which day woud you choose to be off? Monday or Friday?
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image

Re: Monday Morning Question

  • As much as I hate Mondays, I'd rather have Fridays off.

If we all took Mondays off, then Tuesday would become the new crappy Monday.

I work from home, so I may not be the best to answer this because I can take either or both off if I wanted.  But...
If I was still working a regular job, I would vote for Friday off.  The week would just seem shorter that way.  If I had Monday off, I would feel like the rest of the week was off somehow. Like I was always behind a day.
    ROCK IS KING!!
  • Mondays off.
  • I already have this schedule, sort of.  I work my 80 hours over 9 days instead of the normal 10, and then I have every 10th day off (which is every other Friday).  It's pretty sweet.  Two of my co-workers chose Mondays, though.

  • Fridays.

Then every couple months or so there's a holiday, and you end up with a four day weekend.
  • Friday. I like to go home to my mom's on the weekends when I can, so it would be nice to have extra time on Friday to get down there before the weekend.
  • I guess FH and I prefer Mondays off because Sundays are usually pretty long for us. He is at church, usually, from 8 am until 4pm. I don't have that long of a day, but after service we usually do naps and then dinner. Taking Mondays off to rest sounds great.
I also feel that when we have Mondays off for holidays or something, that you feel like Tuesday is Monday and so on and then Friday is here before you know it.

  • "Monday" has a certain feeling attached to it. Even if Tuesday were to become the new Monday in principle, it still wouldn't feel like Monday (at least to me). Besides, having Fridays off would make going back on Monday even worse.
  • I worked for a university for a few years after I graduated and during the summer we were allowed to consolidate our days so that we worked 40 hours in 4 days versus 5.  My boss would take Friday off one week and Monday the next so she had an extra long weekend every other week.

I think I'd rather have Fridays off.
  • I've thought about this a lot actually. I would definitely choose Mondays off because I need one recoup day before I start my work week. I'm always SO tired on Mondays due to crazy weekends.

If I could work from home, I'd work 50 hours a week if I had to. Man, that would be bliss. Theoretically, my job would be super easy to do from home (it's pretty much web-based and my boss actually telecommutes from a different state, plus I don't interact with people in the office much - nothing I couldn't do by phone or messenger), but my company wouldn't want to give up the control or spend the money setting up a home office for me.

  • my fiance only gets sunday and tuesdays off so those would be my choiced.

  • Probably Mondays, because that's the worst traffic day.

But... I already take off every Tuesday.  It's great.  Mondays are now like Fridays, and Wednesdays don't feel like Mondays, they feel like Wednesdays.
  • Monday because I like to run errands if I'm alone on my day off and places are less busy than on Fridays.
  • I only work a four day week, and I elect to work Tuesday to Friday and have Monday off... although, that said, I sometimes wish I had Fridays off, because there's so many public holidays on Mondays that I miss out on getting paid days off for!
