Oh I certainly wasn't asking because I was afraid that I would be banned for not being nice, just trying to figure out where the PSA came from that people should be nicer. 

I am interested in the concept of internet vandalism though.

IMO, if you see a post that is asking the same question, move on! You don't HAVE to say something. When people respond very nasty to a question, because you are tired of answering the same question, that just shows how snarky you are. No one is paying for your response and that is the only time when you should feel like you have to say something.

I went on kind of a rant last week about the whole kids at weddings thing.  It wasn't mean, but still rant-y and probably the result of 432589 "how do I not have kids at my weddings" posts in one day and not the poster herself.  So...sorry, KA.
