Freaking seriously?

A girl that I'm so-so friends with invited me to her shower - I ordered the gift from BBB, but they didn't come in until after the shower and I felt crazy going to a shower for someone I go to lunch with every now and then without a gift, so I didn't show up and gave her the gifts last week.

After I bought them, the platters and bowls I got her (originally like $15 a piece or whatever) went on clearance for $6.99. She told our good friend (FI's Best friend's wife is our mutual friend that we met through) that "If I couldn't be bothered to spend more than $14 on her and her fiance' then there's no reason for her to even get us a gift for our wedding."

Not that I care if she gets us a gift - but I just couldn't believe she would say that. Gotta love people.

Re: Freaking seriously?

  • I hope she drops the platters and breaks them. :)

  • Maybe she was upset that you didn't show up for her shower.

I'm pretty sure this chick is well beyond he maybe zone...
  • What a cow. I was honestly more excited about some of the cheap registry gifts than others with a higher price tag because guess what - I wanted them! That's why they were on my registry! Not so that I could tally up how much everyone loved us. In fact I was thrilled when things would go on sale because it meant that our friends could save money at the same time they were doing something nice for us.

I thought that at first, but then last week at lunch she mentioned that there were 50 people there and she didn't even remember who all they were. I also text messaged her that morning and told her I would feel like a freak showing up without a gift and she sent a message back saying that she would too and she'd see me last week.

    Whatever.

    1. It was bizarre of her to say that, and to a mutual friend of yours no less.
    2. It was more bizarre for your mutual friend to tell you.
    3. Most bizarre is text messaging her to tell her you weren't going to an event that I assume you RSVP'd to becuase your gift didn't arrive in time...and she agreed with you!?

    How bizarre.

If I were upset about that, I'd say "wow, I can't believe LDYGTR bailed on my shower." I wouldn't rag on the cost of her gift to me.

Sadly they're stainless - so they just might dent or something - I hope she breaks a toe and it's uncomfortable for her to walk in her wedding shoes down the steep stairs at our venue. *yeah, she's getting married the weekend before me at the same venue - she booked it 2 weeks after getting my STD and the day after we had lunch and talked about my date/venue. I wasn't thrilled, but I'm being nice about it now lol*

    1) She's kinda bizarre and a drama starter.
    2) Mutual friend thinks it's a bitchy move and told me not to expect a gift.
    3) There wasn't an RSVP option - so I didn't RSVP, however I had mentioned to her that I was planning to come. The text was just me just giving an explanation.

    But you're right...pretty bizarre.

Haha, I heart you. She's actually not a horrible person - or at least I didn't think she was until this whole wedding business. I still dont think she's horrible. I'm hoping she just has a case of the wedding crazies.
  • That's super trashy.  Even mentioning to others what people gifted and how much they spend is very low.  Let alone the rest of what she said.
