I don't think I need to, but thought I would double check so I don't do anything improper... I don't need to send thank you notes to people who send cards, right? I mean, I don't send a thank you for a birthday card, but I just want to be sure wedding etiquette isn't different. I don't know what I would do without this board!

No, you don't need to thank people for a card.  ...Unless the card contains a gift certificate or money, then thank them for that.

You only need to send a thank you for a card if it has money, a gifts card, or a check inside.

It could create a downward spiral.  You send a thank you card for their card, then they send you a thank you card for your thank you card, etc.
