Did you check out Ann Burrell's new show on Food Network?  America's Worst Cooks.  I thought it was great.  I can't believe people actually cook like that.

I also love Chopped and can't wait for the Iron Chef episode with the White House chef.

Re: SarahPLiz

  • Yes, Lauren totally worth it.  Laugh out loud funny (at least the first episode was).
  • I have not. I'll have to add it to the TIVO. I love chopped and Iron Chef!

Do any channels still play the original Iron Chefs from Japan? The voice overs were the best!

Oh, and I confess that when I saw you page me on here, I thought I was being called to the principal's office.. being called out on P&E is not always a good thing Laughing

  • No detention for you!

I thought that sometimes The Food Network will replay the original Iron Chef (I could be wrong though, but I swear I've seen them on this channel.
  • ok. I now have a season pass. I saw the previews for it, and some lady made the rawest, slimiest looking chicken I have ever seen.

I guess I learned early, but how do people not know how to cook well enough to feed themselves? THey must have a charmed existence. The first thing I learned how to cook was a roux, standing at my grandmother's stove for hours, stirring that cast iron skillet.  I can't imagine not being able to cook.

I just bought a cast iron skillet and not the Le Creuset kind either.  I'm talking heavy-as-hell-big-black-ugly cast iron skillet.  I love it.

Yeah, some guy boiled a whole chicken, put some tomato sauce on it and then placed sliced swiss cheese on top.  Seriously, I almost gagged.
  • Ewwww! That's gross. How would they even think that would taste good? I mean, I have experimented and had it go horribly wrong (pork roast with white beans that came out looking like plain white, stringy mush), but at least I didn't do it on national television!

I have my grandmother's cast iron skillet. My cousin got her magnalite, but I still feel lucky to have the skillet. Everything tastes better cooked in that skillet.

  • You're lucky to have that skillet.  My grandmother's was lost in a move after her death.  I think someone stole it.

That pork and bean dish sounds yuck. lol  I've made some doozies before too.  ha!
