KUI, KUI, KUI...

(sung to the tune of "Let it Snow")

So, TK (not trapper keeper, but The Knot) has decided to eff up on my post preferences, so I can't see who is replying most recently to posts.

Sooo, anyone else here KUIing? Any fun plans for NYE?

Aaaand (I'm sure this has been discussed, but I have been absent of late) I got a Kindle for Christmas and I love it. Any other fabulous gifts to brag about?

  • Not KUIing, but I was tipsy earlier tonight for the first time in a while. :) Mmm strawberry daiquiris. Love love love. Gifts? I got a cute sweater from my mom and gift cards to the grocery store. DH got a nice sweater too, but our favorite gift of all was Super Mario Brothers Wii!

  • Ok what's KUI?
And I got some gorgeous ruby earrings from Kevin and a fun purse in my favorite color. (green) he did good.
  • KUI is knotting under the influence.

I got a couple seasons of JAG on DVD.  The recession made it a bummer Christmas giftwise around here.

Panda - We didn't go overboard either this year. DH and I didn't even get gifts for one another and our families kept it fairly low-key.

  • No KUI but I am drinking a smoothie :)

I am going to a bonefire and a crawfish boil tomorrow. Just some country girl stuff!

    And WB!

  • We did not get each other gifts this year because I am in school very very full time without a job and he is paying my 5000 dollar tuition, which is enough!

  • You got a kindle?! I hate you.

I did get an ipod touch from FI though so that was pretty awesome.

  • Panda, I'm jealous of the JAG DVDs.

  • Squirrly, do you share in my obsession with that show?  Because I can't find anyone who likes it as much as I do.

  • I love my Ipod. I could not live without it.

  • The Kindle is amazing! My mom got one last summer as a graduation gift to herself. She finished her masters in library sciences and I wanted to steal it. I live like 1500 miles away from her. I could totally get away with it for like a couple of months.
  • DH and I made a deal that from here on out, we will do stockings for each other every Christmas and that's it. If it can't fit in the stocking, it's a no-go. Ang - DH was supporting me for a while and I would never let him get me anything nice. I told him that taking care of me financially was enough. Though, I HAVE been hinting at flowers for months and he's not getting it. Haha.

  • Always, where did your mom to go school for that?  I wanted to get my masters in that but I've been having a hard time locating a school.  I wish you could get it over the internet.

  • gg- looove super mario brothers! Is there a mario cart for WII? My parents have one (the WII system,) but racing games are my favorite. Btw, how is work going? Is stranglingproblemchild (I named him myself) still at it?

J&K- the recession made it a pretty crappy year for gifts from FI and I; I got a thermal with his cellar logo on it, and he got a sweater from me. And some sock. I can't complain though, I love my thermal and I actually picked out a sweater FI liked.
  • I got my 3 favorite things for Christmas.

    • sparkling apple cider
    • books
    • diamonds
  • gg, I love the stocking idea!

  • Yeah, GG he is always buying me stuff when I just mention that I like something. I could say, "Hey that _______ is cool' and then the next week it is in my hands, lol! But money is getting really tight now and we just could not afford to spend on gifts (besides close relatives and a couple of friends) this year.

  • She went to the university of missouri - columbia. And I think Southern Illinois university - edwardsville has a program as well.
I'm not sure where you are but my mom really enjoyed the program and she did most of it online and had to go to class just a few times.
  • Sunshine - There is a Mario Kart for Wii! There's also a steering wheel you can buy to attach the remote to. And as for stranglingproblemchild, I haven't been at work in a week because we have Christmas break. I am wondering how he will do once we go back next Monday (It all depends on how nice/bad of a break he had.) He did try to attack another student last week, but he was stopped by 2 teachers, thank goodness! It seems like more needs to be done about him - he isn't being separated from the class and his privileges haven't been taken away. This is because if he feels as though he is being treated differently, he will go off again. Honestly, I don't feel safe around him 1:1.

  • Thanks!  FI is in med school so after the wedding we're going to be moving every four months for a couple years, so I can't do anything with school that involves going to class at all.  But most online schools won't even let you matriculate unless you've worked full time for three years, which I can't because of the moving around.  But you know, med school > library sciences, lol.

I think it's a good idea too! He made me a stocking our first Christmas together 3 years ago and he got me a bunch of candy, silly putty, and a necklace from Kay's. He does a good job. :)

  • Sweet! I always do a stocking for FI, I made him one out of Mossy Oak material our first Christmas together, and stuff it with candy, snacks, and whatever each year.

  • Hahaha you can fit a key (a key to a house or car) in a stocking, woot!
    image
  • whit- Thanks for making me cry. Sticks and stones, sticks and stones.
The Kindle is fab, most of my favorites are free too. SO THERE.
    (where is that sarcastic font?)

Ricks- that is definitely a present enough!

Aaand, I'm gonna whine now so prepare:
Just heard from FI, he has to work all day tomorrow and half a day on Fri, thus I will be spending NYE alone (he works about 3 hours away from me). Anyone gonna be here to keep me company?
  • oh, well that sucks but he'll be stable before too long and then you can go back. My mom graduated with the degree at 49. And right now she is going back again for another in humanities. she's a monster. She also works full time for the library district.
  • no KUI but I did just pour a glass of wine to wind down with.

I'm about 6 hours late with the wine too
  • My H has to work tomorrow night and Friday night too :( I will be flying solo as usual. I feel your pain!
    image
  • Ang - Very true! The only rule is that it has to fit inside the stocking. :)
    image
  • gg- good to know about Mario Cart!
And, well, obviously not feeling safe= not cool, but with jobs being the way they are right now, I feel the thought of being kinda stuck. Keep me posted if you don't mind.
