Destination Wedding tipping

I am getting married in St Thomas and have been working with a wedding planner via email only. Am I expected to tip her for her services? Let me also mention she is the owner of the company and will also be performing the ceremony. Also who else should receive a tip? Photographer? Driver?

Re: Destination Wedding tipping

  • You should tip anyone who provides a service for your wedding. Same rules apply for a destination wedding as a wedding at home. As for the planner technically since she owns the company a tip isn't required but since she is also officiating then I feel like you should still tip. I am having a destination wedding as well and we will definately be tipping the driver, catering staff, planner, coordinator, stylists, etc... Hope that helps!

  • St Thomas is a US Virgin Island and it follows the same tipping standards as the states. If you tip them at home you should tip them there.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
