Pelham Bay Split Rock Golf Course

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give all my fellow brides a word of warning about this reception site-- my fiance and I spoke to the Catering Sales Director and met with her in person in January.  At that time, we were told a Sunday wedding could start in the afternoon, as they only did one event at a time on Sundays.   We did not go forward with a contract, because the banquet space was not constructed yet (it is seasonal).  We were told that we would be contacted when the space was ready to be viewed, which was supposed to be in late March.

In April, I contacted the Sales Director to ask if the space was ready (she never followed up with us).  I honestly felt that the woman barely remembered who I was, and obviously did not keep notes on our meeting.  When my fiance and I told her that we wanted to move forward with a contract, she said that the policy had changed (in two and a half months?) and they now do two events on Sunday.  They could only do an event at 11am or 6pm... Could no longer work with a Sunday afternoon wedding (if you have a Sunday church wedding, this vendor will not work for you).

We were pretty dissapointed, and left without signing a contract.  When my fiance left her a message saying that we didn't understand why she wouldn't have called us to say the policy had changed (we waited two and a half months, thinking this would be our location), and also why they would turn down someone who was willing to sign a contract that day because they may or may not get an event for that morning (my wedding is NOT during graduation or communion season, etc.).

The Sales Director left us a message saying that we never had a written contract, that she works for a corporation, and that she thought she was being more than generous offering 2010 prices for a 2011 wedding.

To make a long story short, customer satisfaction is not the goal here-- and their word is not good unless it is written in contract.  We feel VERY upset that we waited over two months to see the banquet space.  Not once did she say they were sorry.  At best she said she could "try" to get approval to start at 5pm (we originally said it has to be 4pm)...  Overall, very dissapointing experience.
