Re: stupid things thread

  • I'm still upset that I let my hair stylist cut 4 inches off my hair.  I've never been upset about cutting my hair before.  It's REALLY stupid.

[QUOTE]Any, I must have missed it- what happened at the border?? Here's a stupid-funny:  My phone just corrected me stupidly again.  I typed 'Just saying huloo' and it corrected to say 'Just saying Julio'.

Oh, I was just telling Manda last night. Basically, I went down without a visa for 5 months January of '09, he came back up with me for two weeks, and I went back down for five and a half. At the time, I was under the impression that I could do that, and them letting me back supported that theory.

So, we're on our way back after New Year's this year, and they stop us, and ask us to pull over and everything. They search our car. They pull me into an interview room, and start asking me all these questions, and I start crying because that's what I do when I'm stressed and nervous, and I didn't think I had done anything wrong. Obviously now I do, but I was really confused at the time.

They start in on "Why are you crying?" etc etc, and then finally one of them just goes "Why are we even bothering to ask her anything, we know what we're going to do." I thought they were just going to turn me away, but apparently they were planning on banning me for "living" there illegally.

They take FI in and basically tell him they're going to charge him and I'm never going to be let back in, blah blah, and so he comes out and is crying (only time I've ever seen him cry). I guess they didn't want to get in trouble for harassing us or whatever, and the two guys in the room were pretty nice, it was just that one lady that was a b*tch. So they tell us that I just can't come back without a visa, and let him take me back home.

So, we start back on the 6 hour drive, and FI goes "So, I was planning on waiting a bit before asking, but it seems like a good idea now: Want to get married?". And that's the circumstances of his initial proposal, lol. It didn't really sink in that night, since we had both just spent a year never out of each other's sight only to find out that we only 7 hours together and then he'd be 1300 miles away. It sucked.

It was pretty awful. I was mostly pissed because I told them when I was coming back after the first 5 months that I'd be staying another couple of months at least, so if I wasn't allowed to stay that long, why did they let me back in?! Urgh. I had to have fingerprints taken and everything. They're pretty serious business.

  • Any- that super sucks.  Jerks :(  I'm sorry!

And yes, Julio is one of the slaves I bought at Target.

"Julio, shine my cinderella shoes and paint the dining room fuschia!"

H hasn't responded to that text.  He probably thinks I'm cheating on him with Julio.

Interesting, I may have to look into that. We hopefully only have two more months to go, but I'm seriously dreading the interview.

I highly recommend it.  This is her follow up to Eat, Pray, Love and it's about her coming to terms with the idea of marriage so she includes a lot of research and history about marriage in the US and other cultures and I found it really enlightening to read while planning a wedding :)
