Engagement party guests

We are having a large engagement party(about 100 people). There are some of our friends that are single. Do we need to invite them to the engagement party with a guest? I know for the wedding they will be invited with a guest but is it necessary for the e party?

    What the person above me said.  If someone you invite really wouldn't know anyone else I'd give them a guest, just so they feel a little more comfortable.  But don't forget that anyone in a relationship (whether dating, married, or engaged) gets to bring their significant other.  Also that's a large party.  Just make sure the person hosting it is okay with that many people/can afford it.

    The person hosting (FMIL) is the one with most of the guests.  I have very few guests.  I will definately be inviting anyone with a significant other.  I just have a few people that I know are totally single.
