FI--update

Well the doc had pretty good news--estimates 4 weeks recovery. FI has a walking cast, no weight on yet, but can go back to work tomorrow as long as he's on a sitting job.  Which they said they would do for him. He goes back next Friday and will know a little more then based on how it's healing. Doc thinks he *should* be able to walk down the aisle at ceremony but said absolutely no overdoing anything on the wedding day.  Also *thinks* Fi should be good to go by honeymoon. I'm waiting to totally be YIPPEEEE about HM until he sees him again next week. JUST to be sure. Doc said he just missed shattering the whole bottom of his heel. Crazy!

  • Excellent news, Pirata! I know that was a sigh of relief for you - and him!

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • LOL yeah he gets to live another day!

  • That's great news Pirata!  What a relief!  Still good to be cautious but usually doctors are worst case scenario, so if it's looking good now and your FI really sticks to being careful and going easy on his foot, I bet he'll be great!

WOW that sounds like an incredibly close call. But this is pretty much the best news you could have hoped for, lady!! YAY! I'm so excited. (And trying to not get too ahead of myself yet.)

Still sad I can't be there to see him hobble his way down the aisle :)

  • I'm so happy for you! I didn't want to post this yesterday because I didn't want to give you anything else to worrya bout. H was playing basketball and sprained his ankle. The doc said it was sprained in 3 places, said it was the worst the doc had ever seen adn that he would have been much better off with a break. He had to wear crutches for 2 months and was in a walking boot for 3 months and then an air brace/boot for another 3. He's now has to wear a brace anytime he plays basketball or runs. I'm SO happy you were much luckier!

OMG same thing happened to FI as a teen--no brace and all at that time, but it was such a bad twist or sprain they said he'd have been better off breaking his ankle. But yeah thank god he didn't land a little more to the side or any harder, doc said it could have been a very differnent outcome.  Hoping for continued good news next week...we'll see.

  • Great news all around Pirata.
  • Pirata, PLEASE make sure he's super careful.  That shattered heel the doctor mentioned to you?  My dad did that to both his feet at the same time 3 years ago.  He will never walk the same way again, and will always be in pain.  It sounds like your FI is on a really good road to recovery, but please scare the crap outta him so that he doesn't over do it.  Trust me - not worth it.

  • Squirrly--thanks, I'm glad you're on my side with this.  I just don't think he realized how serious it is, and he's just so stubborn sometimes.  I think he got the hint last night when we had a little tiff about it, and I was so emotionally exhausted that I went up and laid in bed and slept over 12 hours.  He definitely seemed more understanding this morning when I said I know what it's like (foot surgery last year) and I didn't like sitting home for 3 weeks but he HAS to listen to the doctor. He was like "OK" and not in that "Yes dear, I KNOW" attitude when I'm being a nag LOL. But I will definitely tell him about your dad and say so yeah seriously, don't you dare put weight on it til Doc says so!
