Jack & Jill Greenback Shower

So my cousin and his FI are having a Jack & Jill Greenback shower the weekend before mine and my FI's wedding.  I have googled to try and find a registry for them, but from what I am hearing there is none and to give cash.  With my own wedding the following weekend I am not in a place to be giving a lot.  What do you guys think?

Re: Jack & Jill Greenback Shower

  • The "greenback" part means they want cash.  And that they are RUDE AS HELL.
  • Ditto Joy. That is incredibly rude and I would decline or get them a toaster.. a pink retro one.

  • WTF is up with all this Jack & Jill shower crap?  Why can't people have normal showers.
  • My shower is normal...I sent my mom the list of people I would like, all females, and have a nice registry.
  • Glad to hear it, amhill =)
  • I am horribly embarassed for your cousin.
  • I think one of the only wedding faux pas that really gets under my skin is the act of asking for cash gifts.

Your Cousin and Fi are rude and I definitely wouldn't go and I wouldn't send them a cash gift.
  • Me too Eagles (wrong thread that is).

I said you should bring monopoly over to play with them.
  • I might attend this if people were going to literally shower them by throwing the money at them.

And only if they were coins.  Haha.
  • I'd skip it.  The whole "jack and jill" idea is disgusting

In my area a "jack and jill" is a co-ed party. This sounds like a co-ed shower... where they're expected to bring cash. I'm thinking that the "jack and jill" part isn't what's disgusting here.
