Sweater time!

So, I dug out a light weight sweater this morning.  It was really early, because I had to take H to the airport, and I was really not paying attention.  I threw on clothes, got ready, and rushed out the door.

The sweater is wool.  Wool makes me itch.  Apparently I forgot that I normally wear a very thin undershirt under the sweater.

I had to go to the mall across the street at lunch and buy a new shirt so that I wouldn't just be one big hive by the end of the day.

Anybody else have any "gotcha's" when switching the seasonal wardrobe around?

Re: Sweater time!

  • There's nothing worse then an itchy sweater!  I got a cleaning bug up my bottom last weekend and reorganized my closet and pulled out all my winter clothes.  Thank goodness b/c it has been cold the past 3 days.

My GOTCHA was pulling out all my summer clothes one summer to find out nothing fit me anymore.  It was depressing.  THANKFULLY, I had a baby as an excuse, but it still totally sucked.  (no worries though, I'm back in them now)  :)
  • I iron my clothes at night. Last night they said that it was going to be 76 and sunny today. Yipee! I pulled out my anniversary gift from FH. A very cute sundress that I hadn't had a chance to wear yet. Well, it was cold as eva this morning and so I changed my outfit to a shirt and capris. I totally forgot that  the mornings are not warm anymore. Guess I'll save the dress for next year.

And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
  • My biggest thing is when I wear a jacket or coat again for the first time that year/ season, I'll find something in the pocket that I spent ridiculous amounts of time searching for the previous year/ season. Last night I found a tube of Carmex in a hoodie (that I actually wear about every other week because my H has a hair sweater and keeps it freezing in the house) that I remember searching for and being dumfounded as to where it had gone (I'd usually keep it on my nightstand).

  • Mine is similar to Courtney's: Saturday morning I had to go to the grocery store, and it was really warm the day before, so I just threw on a white t-shirt and jeans and flip flops.  When I got outside it was way chilly.  Then by the time I got to the store it had started raining.  It was not awesome, and I was very uncomfortable.
But then I went home and put my pajamas back on, so it was all good.

"Hair sweater" made me laugh.  And I can totally relate to this.  I'm always cold.
  • Usually the first time I wear sweaters after a while I forgot how to care for them and toss them in the dryer. Then they shrink and I can never wear them again. I'm tall and have a long torso and long arms, so finding clothes that fit are a nightmare to begin with, then I go making them smaller.

  • It's been in the 100's around here.  No jackets required.

(actually sweaters too but I wanted to give Phil a shout out)

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.

  • Not sweater gotcha, but it's a good one.

My GF was dating this guy and her and I would hang out at his place.  Sometimes we'd have drinks and spend the night.  Well he had a roommate.  He and I hooked up a little bit.  And when we were done, I said I'd go back to the couch and watch TV.... we wouldn't speak a word of it.  Put my shirt and my sweater back on.

GF and I go for breakfast and she goes, "did you and B hook up last night?"  I was like "god no.  i passed out watching a movie."

Took my sweater off and my t-shirt underneath was inside out.

    Busted.

  • I hate leaving in the morning and it's freezing out (so I dress accordingly) then roasting on the way home because it's hot and humid.  I wish the weather would make up it's mind in fall/spring around here.

I know I could do layers, but I don't have any nice clothes to layer really.

  • I need to just bite the bullet and finish switching the closet around so that I don't have to go rummaging in the mornings when I'm not fully awake.

I also need a nap, right now.

  • It was 113 on Monday and it's 86 right now. No jacket needed. Sweater if you're in AC all day. I wish I got to change my wardrobe often.
  • Well, we have had a weird cold summer and, while autumn is generally a nicer season in these parts than summer, we are now in the middle of a heatwave. H bought me a lovely drapey cardigan sweater on our mini-moon and I wore it the whole week and now it's too damn hot to wear it. Why couldn't we have had this weather over the summer? Though I'm not really complaining about it too much because it's just so nice to get some sunshine and my garden is happy.

UGH this happens to me too!  OR - they trick you into thinking they'll be ok to put in the dryer because over time they slowly lose their shape and get a little longer and looser - but then you put them in the dryer and they fit your dog.  I totally hate that!
  • No wardrobe change here yet =(.  Stupid Florida - I want it to be fall!

  • Mostly I just forget what a giant pain in the ASS it is for me to wear long sleeves again.  Unless it's a sweatshirt or hoodie, the sleeves are rarely long enough and I just end up pushing them up all day or pulling them down and stretching them out.
:(  I blame my father's not-fully-evolved side of the family for my monkey arms.
