my neighbor's yappy dachshund will not shut the fvck up. I have the biggest test of my school career at 9 am, and if I don't pass it, I don't get to graduate. I do not feel ready, I want to puke from nerves, and I can't even concentrate to study because of the damn dog. this is actually a common occurence, but I've never confronted her about it before because I totally understand young dogs and the need to bark. but I had to confront tonight. had to. I think I scared her.

    And, I love wiener dogs. Mine never barked as a puppy.

    My neighbor's Lhasa Apso mix barks at everything...her doxie is pretty quiet by comparison, but the barking does get annoying.  I have a beagle, and most of my neighbors have never heard him because we trained him from a young age not to bark.  Maybe you could suggest one of those citronella bark collars.  My friend's doxie used to bark from the second she left until the second she came home, and any time he heard someone outside.  After a day of the citronella collar, he stopped.  There's no shock, just a squirt of scent to the nose, so it's humane as well as effective.

    MIL has a malti-poo (yes, one of those ridiculous boutique mixes, a maltese and a poodle) that yaps constantly. I hate that fucking dog. I'm sorry!

    the confrontation itself was actually nothing. the words were nice. but when I'm nervous and/or pissed, the tone of my voice tends be very flat and abrupt, so words come out harsher than I intend them to. the words were along the lines of "hey, your dog is barking and I have the biggest test of my school career tomorrow, so can you keep the dog quiet for just one night? I don't normally care, because your dog barks every night and I totally understand young dogs. but just for tonight, please keep the dog quiet." see? not so bad words. but the combination of my nerves about the test and me being pissed at the dog, and the words came out very harsh. she seemed quite anxious to close the door on me.

    nah, after 8 years in school, I found I study best at home. besides, I'm already in my pajamas, makeup off, contacts out and glasses on. I'd rather not go anywhere.

    Sorry about the dog, if it makes you feel better there is a mature dog a few doors down that I want to squirt with food colored water to make it shut up and let the owners know how obnoxious we think the dog is.
