Forgot to invite somebody!!

Ok, so we're between pastors at our church at the moment.  Our ceremony will be performed by the pastor who starts in May.  In the meantime, we've had visiting pastors.  One is a very sweet guy, and has been giving my FI a lot of advice on seminary (since FI is going in the fal).  He's also doing all our Holy Week services.  We just realized the other day (after Thursday service) that we forgot to invite him.  We invited everyone at our chuch, and even announced one Sunday that the chuch is invited, but he wasn't there that Sunday.  I'm terribly embarassed we forgot to invite him.  How do we bring it up to him when we see him tonight?

And should we give him a paper invite, yes/no?  We have extras, but I feel like that just further highlights that we forgot in the first place.  But of course, we did!!!

I'd give it to him, and say you wanted to give it to him in person because it felt so impersonal through the mail.  He may buy it, or he may not, but he won't say anything, for sure.

I'd just hand him a paper invite.  I think I would feel more like someone forgot about me if they just told me I was invited than if they gave me the actual invitation, KWIM?  I don't think he'll be offended either way though.

I just realized FI and I did the same thing, forgot someone that is. They live a state away, so we are going to call them with all the info (and a HUMUNGOUS apology), rather than send an actual invite a month before the wedding. We are just going to be upfront about it, and hope they realize that it was simply a mistake - not a B-list situation or whatever.

I'd call and explain what happened just like you did here, and invite him word of mouth.

I would be honest. Say you had planned on inviting him and somehow it didn't happen. Apologize and give him the info!

See, I was bad and totally pulled the "Hey, I haven't gotten your rsvp to the wedding yet? What do you mean you never got the invite!"
But it worked, and no hard feelings
