What happened

Re: What happened

  • The bodice of my dress had beading, and more than one person thought it was okay to touch. H said something like, "I thought I was the only one who got to feel her up these days."

That's a good idea about the fun activity. There's a new indoor go kart place in town, and he loves it, but always feels guilty about it.
  • Ray, I can get Yeungling in Western NY. PM me.

Ha, that reminds me of The Office Christmas episode where they gave Angela the skirt that says "Ask before touching" since she's pregnant.

Go-karts sound fun! I think that would make a great birthday surprise, but without putting him on the spot like a party would.
  • Fishy, did you ever get that golf club beverage dispenser? Perhaps you should take that to the casino.
I rarely go to the casinos because they allow smoking too. I'll go occasionally, and we have one where it's not bad unless a smoker sits right next to me in which case I move, but I really can't handle large amounts of smoke.
    Posted by kcscejal
We have a Casino up by O'Hare and it's smoke free like the rest of IL, but the minimums on the tables are so high! I can't gamble when the minimum is $25-50. So we head down to good old Hammond IN to the Horseshoe and deal with the smoke. They've got $5-10 minimums.

BTW, we went last weekend and I rolled on craps for over an hour. I was ON FIRE! People tipped ME out at the end.

I guess my health isn't as important as my paycheck!
  • Well, Special, that was my only suggestion.

I made a big deal out of my 30th myself. I threw my own birthday party. Really, I just invited about 12 people over for food and drinks. But considering it was my 30th and it was on a Saturday, I HAD to do something. Matt's 30th is this year (3 days after Xmas), and who knows what we'll do. He also has a twin sister, so they are usually together for their birthdays. Oh yeah, and he hates attention and parties.

I think 30 is a big deal and should be treated as a big event.

I had ALWAYS planned on a taking an awesome trip on my 30th birthday. Well then friends of our got married on my birthday, so I couldn't do what I wanted to do.

This year there is a group of 12 of us going to Vegas to celebrate the "1st anniversary of my 30th birthday" or the "10th anniversary of my 21st birthday." We'll see how we act and decide which one is more appropriate.
  • How dare they get married on your birthday! That's so rude!!
     ;)

Sounds like a fun trip this year, though!!! Maybe I'll just do something nice for Matt. See the problem is that we're always with his family (and sister, obviously), so I guess I could just plan something as the wife, but ya know, it usually defers to them to figure stuff out.
I spent my 30th birthday visiting my new nephew in the hospital. That kid was 4 hours from being my 30th birthday present.

I like to say that my nephew softened the blow of me turning 30. He was born 8 days later.
I feel bad about H's 30th. His bday is on Christmas, so we'll probably never get to go out with friends on his actual birthday. And everyone is so busy around the holidays that it's hard to throw a party. I think I ended up just getting him a cake and we sang happy birthday at the NYE party we went to. Maybe one day we'll throw a holiday party and I can say it's his bday party too :)

My FI has a Christmas birthday too (the 26th, actually) and he's always so tired from the Christmas run-around that he never wants to do anything - I am madly in love with my birthday, so I always feel sad when he says he wants to do nothing at all, but he insists, so I try to listen. I do make a point of saving his "better" present for his birthday though, so at least he has something awesome to open.

I'll admit, I was a little whiney to H about it for about a minute, but then I realized that we got married on her birthday. Ha.

But I'm kind of weird because I've been excited about turning 30 since I turned 21. I have just always wanted to be 30.

Andplusalso, I wouldn't really have been able to go on a big trip for my 30th considering my DW was one month before.

It's all working out for the best, I get a trip with my besties on my birthday :)
