How creepy would I be...

if I stole my co-workers nail file?  She sits a few feet away, and she has been filing her nails non-stop for 4 days.  I'm slowly going insane.  I don't know how she has any nails left.  She leaves half an hour before me... but she may keep the file in her purse.  I don't know.

  • As long as you weren't planning on using it yourself.

To be honest, if I were you I'd just tell her to knock it off. I hate when people file their nails in public anyway.

  • But I'm kind of a passive-aggressive p*ssy, salt :/

  • Do it.

If the thing that annoys you can be easily removed, then I'd do it, too.

The cold of the guy behind me who incessantly clears his throat cannot be removed, but if it cooouuuullldddd....
  • Oh wait, I'm off work tomorrow.  This is kind of irrelevant.

  • I would take it, then cut it in little pieces, and put it back in her desk.  That way she gets the hint it's annoying, instead of thinking she lost it and replacing it with another one.

  • Well if she's anal about nail filing, she probably has an arsenal of them tucked away somewhere ;)

  • She'll just start again Monday. I'd wait until she's not doing it, then tell a story about someone filing their nails beside you at the doctor or something, and how it drives you SO CRAZY.

    P/A at its best.
  • I'm a public nail filer Embarassed In my defense, I only do it if I break a nail and it's got a ragged edge. It catches on everything if I don't file it down. And I certainly don't do it all day long.

  • Good idea, Georgia!

What's weird is that it's a new obsession- we've sat next to each other for over a year, and I don't think she's ever done it before.  Maybe she's stressed.  I should buy her a cookie.

<div>That's different! :)</div><div>I mean like someone that just sits there constantly filing for no real reason other than being obsessive over it. Like people that pick their teeth. Pick your teeth if you have food in them, but why are you chewing on a toothpick all day long? (I worked with a guy that did this.)</div>

  • LC, if I have a snagglenail, I'll file it too. But I wouldn't file them all, all day long.
  • Yes, ocassional filing is totally ok.

  • At least if she's eating a cookie she can't be filing her nails at the same time.  Just keep handing her cookies.

This also has the added benefit of making her fatter than me.  It's always good to keep people around who are fatter than you.

    This. Keep her hands busy, then she can't file. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

I love this...now what would you do with two people who clip their nails at work...it's TORTURE!

  • Then play "Cat Scratch Fever" :D
  • My old boss (old as in former, and as in, well, old) would take out nail clippers and start chopping away while you were in the middle of a conversation with him.  And that wasn't even his worst quality...

  • My boss and another CW both clip their nails at work.  What is wrong with these people?!?

  • One of my friends (and office mates and she happens to be one of my BMs) clips her nails at her desk.  Drives me insane.

  • We used to have a guy who clipped his nails at his desk. And we swore he must have been doing his toes too because it went on FOREVER. So gross. Seriously, personal hygiene should be done at home.
    Crosswalk
  •  I would steal the nail file only because that sound is worse then nails on the chalk board.

<div> Ew!  For me, the sound of someone clipping their nails is worse than nails on a chalkboard. Just the sound of it makes me antsy.  </div>
