So I just finished school

And now I am actually going to have time to plan my wedding! Wink
It seems though now that I am ready to knuckle down and get stuff done that I can't think of words that describe the wedding that I want.  I feel like cutting up magazines to pick out things I like won't really pay off in the end.  Any ideas about how I can get through this planning funk?  How did you guys nail down the perfect description of the wedding you're planning/ have planned?!?  advice please.

Re: So I just finished school

  • Once I narrowed down my colors, I just started googling pink and brown weddings. I know there are other great ideas in other colors, but for me. that helped me the most to really see how it was going to look IRL. But you still have tons of time, so don't stress too much right now about planning.

  • Well, one thing to do is to talk it over with your FI. Also, start looking at venues, because often your theme will come out of your venue, or may change completely once you have that figured out. We were going to do some sort of Celtic theme, but then we decided to get married inside a giant elephant at the beach, and if you're getting married in a giant elephant at the beach, you really don't need more theme than that.

Also, I really don't think there's anything "perfect" about planning a wedding. Again, I'm not very good at being concise, and I'm a grad student in American art, so when people ask me about my theme I start rambling about the Gilded Age and the real estate boom on the Jersey shore and robber barons' obsessions with India. So, definitely not perfect.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • I don't think I did- I think it was a continual work in progress which changed as I found new inspirations.
  • I wouldn't do too much with a little under two years to go.  You'll change your mind.  Maybe book a cake person and photographer.  Stuff like that.

  • I second Shelly- I just looked at your signature and with such a long time to go, you don't want to do much other than look at venues etc at this point anyway.
