Addressing a jr/sr

My fiancé is a Jr. I was randomly thinking about needing new address labels after the wedding and I was wondering what the proper way to do it is? I'm not very fond of Mr. And Mrs John Smith Jr or Mrs. Jane Smith and Mr John Smith Jr Would John Jr and Jane Smith be correct? Jane and John Smith Jr? Something I didn't think of? Thank you

My H is a junior, too, but we don't use it.  So our stuff is all just Jane Smith and John Doe.  Point being, you don't have to use the junior.  Now, if your fi likes using it, I think the proper way would be Jane and John Smith Jr.
  • You could go about this a bunch of ways, but "John Jr and Jane Smith" is not one of them (you're not supposed to separate the guys' name, plus it's "ladies first").

I would probably go with "Jane & John Smith Jr" for return address labels. No Mr & Mrs needed, unless you want them to be more formal.
  • Spell out the junior:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, Junior
Mrs. Jane and Mr. John Smith, Junior

If you are having a more casual event and foregoing titles, Jane and John Smith, Junior is perfectly fine.

  • Are you talking just general address labels to put on like, bill payments, Christmas cards, etc?  In that case, you should put on your address labels whatever name you use socially, so if he doesn't use 'Jr', .

H is a Jr, but he never actually uses that title unless there's something written for both him and his dad, or of course, legal documents.  In fact, H doesn't even go by his first name socially, so anything we've mailed out since the wedding has been under H's middle name because that's how everyone knows him.

Yeah just general labels. He usually uses Jr because we have problems with collectors calling looking for his dad and he wants to make the difference as big as possible. I will probably fo with Jane and John Smith Jr. It just seems weird to me, almost seems like I'm Jane Smith Jr.

I'll get used to it eventually though. Thank you all
