Hair/destination wedding/travel expense/fees??

Hi,

The woman who has been doing my hair has beeen doing so for about 13yrs. I am having a destination wedding and absolutely cannot afford to fly her down to the Dominican Republic. If she is considering coming, on her own dime. How should I offer to help with cost? It would be a package air/hotel deal, so it's tough to break down the cost of her room one night or something of that sort.
Other then paying her for services that day, should I be covering anything else for her? She isn't just "the girl who does my hair" I consider her a friend, so I think she would like to attend regardless. I just don't know what I should offer.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Invite her as a guest, and don't make her work on your wedding day.

or

Pay for her travel expenses, as you would any other vendor.

Is she a vendor?

Yes? pay her as much as you possibly can. You really should pay for travel, hotel, etc.

Guest who is providing a vendor service? Buy her dinner/drinks a few nights to say thanks. Or ask her what she needs help with. But... I would not feel comfortable doing this. Can you get someone to do your hair & she be allowed to have fun & just be a guest?

We had a semi-similar situation. We live in NY & our wedding was in FL. I have a makeup artist who has been doing my makeup since I was 13... and my mom's long before that. We met her from doing makeup, but over the years have become super close with her. She goes over my moms to hang out as a friend; her and her husband go away with my parents, etc. We were going to hire someone from our destination to do our makeup and just invited this lady as a friend/guest. Later on, she asked if we hired someone, etc and we said yes and she INSISTED on doing our makeup. She was upset we hired someone for it. She REFUSED to take anything for it. I had a lot of things to take down so my mom and a bunch of her friends had a "girls road trip down to FL" while my dad, brothers, etc flew down. My mom invited her to drive down with them since she's hung out with my mom and her friends a lot of other times over the years so she did... and she ended up staying with another mutual friend... she wouldn't take any money no matter how many times we pushed so we ended up just paying for her park tickets... and obv none of the girls took any money from her during the drive down, etc. 

Looking back I wish I did it with my hair lady too. We are not close outside of her doing my hair for years so in that case if I wanted her to come for that I would pay for her services, flight, and hotel for the wedding night... if she wanted to stay longer then the one night then that would be her responsibility. 

Our officiant traveled too, he drove so we paid for one night at our venue and gave him a nice tip on top of his regular fee.
