Re: Evening thread?

• Hi everyone!  I had a blast hanging out with my friend tonight....we complained about people's weddings we have been to hahaha

btw...I thought god would be behind christian singles...not match.com hahah
• Eagles - NO FOOD AT A WEDDING THAT STARTS AT 5 PM?!?! The fluck? And do you mean no dinner or just no food at all? Either way that's sucky.
• WTF there was no food at the wedding, eags?

J, most that I know have 2 T's as well. I've only met one since that spells it like me and it kind of caught me off guard.
J&K, I love them like this.  The setting on the engagement ring is really low, so I had to have a notched wedding band to fit with the engagement ring.  So when the wedding band would twist, it looked weird.  I like it so much better with them connected.
Posted by Holly4212011
See, and I wear mine separately sometmes.  Maybe after I get better at the whole gluten free thing and my fingers don't swell as easily.  They accidentally soldered mine when I sent them to be redipped before the wedding, and I damn near blew a gasket right there in the store.

</div><div>I know that white gold needs to be redipped (I need to get that done to my e-ring before the wedding. Didn't realise how dull it was looking until I held it up against the new wedding band). When you go to get them redipped can you dip them in platinum? Or would that not work?</div>
How did they accidently solder your rings?  I can't really wear mine separately, because of the odd shape of my wedding band.  But my rings look really pretty together.  I told H today that I needed another ring to go on top of the e-ring now so I have diamonds surrounding the e-ring.  He told me I have to wait for a while for that.  I'm impatient, though!

<div>My mom got something similar on her 20 year anniversary. She didn't want it until around then though, so it's not like she waited 20 years for it.</div>
• Holly, I know they look the same, the only reason I'd prefer platinum is because white gold has to be re-plated and all that jazz...

We're watching some sort of weird ghost show, Idk why FI likes stuff like this.

<div>So every time I get a white gold ring redipped it's in rhodium? Or do you mean that's what they'd put on it if I wanted them to be platinum. Yeah, I have no clue about fine jewelry. </div>
• I have a white gold e ring and wedding band....

explain this redipping thing to me
• They just assumed they needed to solder them, even though I explicitly told them not to.  So I guess because they're idiots.  The girl who tried to give them back to me was like "Well...the order doesn't say NOT to..."  BUT IT DOESN'T SAY TO DO IT EITHER...so if it doesn't say to do it, you should probably assume NOT TO.  Morons.  I was so mad.  I literally had to just walk out of the store before I said something I shouldn't.

But white gold is easy to buff and re-dip.  If you do ding up your platinum, it's harder to fix. Or at least that's what my jeweler told us.

<div>After a while the pretty sparkle on white gold fades and sometimes the yellow gold underneath starts showing through, so you have to bring it to a jewler that puts more sparkly stuff on it to make it all shiney again.</div><div>
</div><div>That is how I understand it - I'm not trying to be patronizing by using such dumb talk. That is literally all I know about it. </div>
Wow J&K.  I would've come unglued too.  That's a stupid reason to solder them - because the order didn't say not to?  Really?
Posted by Holly4212011
Yeah, and at the time, I had no idea that it was pretty easy to take them apart again.  The person I talked to had no idea if they could or not, so that's why I was flipping out.  When I came back and talked to someone else, and she explained that it was a pretty easy fix, I felt like an ass for the way I reacted.  But maybe they shouldn't have morons talking to customers then.

• I don't understand redipping. What do they do about the diamonds on the band and stuff? You don't want to dip them, right?

We can have our rings dipped every six months for free, so I wasn't that worried about the white gold. H wanted a tungsten ring, but the jeweler told him not to because if his hand got caught in a machine at work (which has happened), they wouldn't be able to cut the ring off him if needed.

• Those don't sound like heavy apps. We had a heavy apps dinner. Except our heavy apps were slices of beef tenderloin and a mashed potato bar. hah.

<div>I don't think they actually dip the ring in the solution, I think that's just a term.</div>

I don't get when people say that.  The concept is asinine.  There are ways to get them off.  They're built with a weak spot to break them.  There are things that can cut them.  I don't believe that any jeweler would be able to sell a ring that you absolutely could not get off if you somehow couldn't slide it off your finger.  Can you imagine the lawsuits?
Angel, you can dip them.  The rhodium has to be bonded to the metal with an electric current; it won't bond to diamonds.  Platinum scuffs more easily than gold.  Tungsten bands can't be cut, but they can be placed in a vise and shattered.
Posted by EaglesBride2012
I had a friend who needed his removed and they cut them with some special thing.  Or something.  That's what he told me, anyway.

H is watching the hip hop and LA riots and it is making me angry.........aaaaaand apparently he feels the same way, because he just said "I can't watch this anymore" and shut it off.
• Dude, I'm SO excited for our wedding food. Our venue is known for their food... we're going to have 30 to 40 butlered apps and then some app stations (including a sushi station!!!!) for cocktail hour and then 3 different entrees for dinner and then a bunch of desserts in addition to the cake.

Very interesting!  Thanks for the info :)

H's band is tungsten, and he's lost weight so he needs a new one, but he's still losing, so he's kind of waiting to lose more first.
