WR--Dress fitting question.

I just got back from my first dress fitting, and am curious as to how others paid for their fittings.

I was charged today for a hem, a bustle, and to have the dress taken in; I go back in two weeks for a second fitting. If more adjustments need to be made to the three thing I'm having done--do you think I will be charged again?

(ps. alterations are effing expensive!)

I paid for everything (2nd half of the dress + alterations) when I picked it up.  However, when I had alterations done on a BM dress last year I paid for every alteration as we went along.  I suppose it depends on your bridal store, but it doesn't seem odd at all.

I have no idea.  My childhood 4-H sewing instructor is doing my alterations free. 

But - do you have pics in your dress?  I don't think I saw those.

If there's more work to be done, then I'd expect them to charge you. I don't know though, I'm wedding dress clueless and the thought of shopping for one, buying it, and having it altered gives me hives.

Actually, I would think that unless you finalized a fitting and then gained/lost weight and needed it adjusted, they wouldn't charge again.  If it were me doing the alterations, I wouldn't have everything finished off all neat and perfect at your second fitting - I'd have it together enough to try on, but I'd expect to need to make tweaks and the less you redo stitching, the better the finished product.

I just went this week too and went through the same process.  Should we go back and need more alterations we'll pay again that day, I believe.  I second wanting to see pics

I guess I just thought it would be a totalled amount when everything was said and done---but, I've never done it before so I'm not sure (and, of course, different places are different)

Yeah, I thought the same thing.  I wasn't expecting to pay anything before it was actually done.  But I had no idea going in either, so that doesn't say much.

Ooh, me likey the dress.  I think you posted a pic of it on the model once before, and I like it WAY better on you.  Somehow, the models always look awkward.  It's like the dresses are too tight, but they have toothpick arms, which I don't like.

Long winded, there.  Sorry.  But - it rocks on you.

bahaha! I<em> hate hate <strong>hate</strong></em> my dress on the model; it looks like crap. If I had to base buying a dress off of how it looked on a model, I would have passed my dress up without a second glance.

The color is called caffe---it's a really like coffee color. The light tends to make it look pinkish sometimes, and camera flashes make it look gold----and it's not at all what I thought I would like!

Ho.lee.crap.  You look amazing!!  What a gorgeous dress - I don't think I've seen it before!

I would think that unless there are major adjustments to be made that you should be set, but can you call and ask the policy?  Did you go to an independent person or to a store?

I am paying a flat fee for all of my alterations no matter what is required so I can't really help, sorry.
