Addressing Invitations

For our wedding, my future husband and I chose to have one-envelope invitations, because we are very "green" and also on a very tight budget. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to addressing invitations to a whole family when there is no inner envelope to write the children's names on. Do I say "The Smith Family" or "Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Family" or "Mr. & Mrs. John Smith, Jane & Micheal Smith"? I'm just not sure! Can anyone help me???

Re: Addressing Invitations

  • Put the kids on the second line under their parents.  "And Family" sometimes leads to more people than you really wanted to be invited.

    You can also do:
    Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith
    Miss Jane Smith
    Master Joshua Smith

  • Yes, just like they mentioned above, it is important to be specific on who you are inviting if you are trying to keep your guest list to a certain number. That is important especially if you are inviting one person but not adding a "and guest" afterwards. If it isn't a huge deal to you number wise and you want to be more general, then "Mr. and Mrs. Smith and family" is appropriate. Good luck!
