Parents/Grandparents in Processional

In the processional, is it customary for the woman (grandma or mom) to be walked down by an usher and then the husband walks behind? I thought that's how it was, but now I'm second guessing. His mom wants groom to walk her down the aisle. By wants I mean demands. So he is going to do that, and now he thinks that means his dad walks his mom down the aisle. So then how does my family walk? I'm not sure it makes sense. I like doing things the same across the board.
Also, how does a grandpa walk down the aisle if it's just him? His wife passed away a little over a year ago, and I don't want him to feel awkward walking down the aisle. He is very close to one of my cousins, who is an usher, would it be weird to have a man walk a man down the aisle? Is that breaking a lot of etiquette rules? Help! :-)
