$120/person with tax & tip in NJ.  My married bio has the menu so you can see what we got (cocktail hour, dinner, drinks, cake, dessert, venue, chairs, linens, tables, all included.
  • Hello,

We are paying about $40 person.  This includes a twoicourse dinner with 3 passed appetizers.  That doesn't include the bar,  tax, and gratuity.

I am getting married on the South Shore of Massachusetts,  Kingston, Ma.
  • We are in Saskatchewan. Our buffet is $14 per person. That includes 2 meats, 3 salads, and a ton of extras to boot.

Apparently here in the Prairie's it is a lot cheaper than anywhere else! Even when we looked into using a hotel, it was only $36 per person. So, we do have it pretty good here!

  • We are getting married in Newport, RI.  Our meal will be approximately $125/person and then five hours of premium open bar $45/person so together around $170/person.  This does not include tax or the 18% admin charge.

This is just for food/beverage and does not include the site rental fee which is another $5,500.
  • Ours is hard to break down.  Our venue cost for the ceremony & reception including cake and alcohol will be right around $100/per person.  The portion of that that is actually food cost is impossible to break out.

  • Ours is going to come out to about $120 pp, not including tax and grat.  This is 3 passed hors d' oeuvers during the cocktail hour, plated salad and entree and a full open bar for 5 hours.  This is in Scottsdale, AZ.  We have to get our own cake, which is another $1000.  I actually thought this was a good deal (based on the other resorts in the area).  I can not even imagine uder $10 per person, my sandwich that I have for lunch today was almost that much!  I am so jealous!
  • We just signed a contract last weekend at a country club in the Chicago suburbs.  Roughly $55 per person for plated dinner, cake, and open bar for 6 hours.

  • $35 per person in Nashville for 8 different high end heavy hors d'oeuvres, sushi station, prime rib station, and mashed potato bar.

That included linens, china, silverware, stemware, non alcoholic drinks, and staff. It did not include the cake or alcohol. We were able to bring in our own alcohol, that cost about $8/person for wine, beer, and a signature cocktail.

  •  We are doing a small reception in an Italian Restaurant for @ 28/pp which includes a salad, app, main course, dessert and drinks.

Though when we were having a huge wedding before we were looking at half being charged $9.50 and the other half $10.50/pp and $7.50 for each vegetarian platter...from a really great caterer in our area for a full plated meal and drinks.
  • Honolulu - Buffet $65 per head.
  • we are paying $110/person for a saturday night in december 2010 (the only month i could afford to do a saturday in Northern New Jersey).  this includes open bar, cocktail hour with passed food & stations, 5 course dinner and cake is included.  so in the grand scheme of things, it's not bad.  my little sister paid $125/person for a friday night this past july for about the same (but a different venue)
  • In Connecticut, we were looking at places with $65 to $105 per person. (We didn't consider any above that, and there were plenty.) Eventually we decided to rent a mansion and get outside catering. Because we're using an Indian caterer, it's only going to be about $25 per person. That doesn't include the alcohol ($1,500 total) or the cake.
  • Ours is $32.95 / person.  It is a family style meal including a dessert table and six hour open bar on a Saturday.  The food is fantastic, and the people are willing to work with your budget.  We said we wanted to have a late night snack, but we couldn't afford to add it, so he threw in a nacho bar w/ cheese fountain.  The wedding is in a northern suburb of Detroit.

We searched for reasonable prices, and this is one of the lowest prices we found.

  • Our one and only splurge was our venue and food/bar.

We paid $75/person for a buffet which had things like mashed potato bar, yellowtail sashimi, ribeye, chicken confit, asparagus, etc.

We negotiated $40/person for a premium open bar for 4 hours.

So with tax and gratuities it was about $145.

We also negotiated the site fee for free which saved us about $2500.

  • Ours is working out to be about $125.00 pp including a cocktail hour with stationary and passed hors d'oeuvres, seated salad, station menu of veggies, pasta, and steak, beer, wine, and signature cocktails, linens, chairs, all rentals, everything.  PS we are getting married on Cape Cod, and we have about 100-130 people.  Hope that helps!

  • ours was about $120-$130 per person- that included 5 hours premium open bar (including cocktail hour), passed hors'doeuvres, 3 course plated meal, and sundae bar.  That doesn't include the wedding cake, decorations, table linens, rentals etc etc.
  • I am up in NH and prices range here as well.  I am paying $50/pp which includes three entrees, 3 sides, dessert option, and 3 apps.  It also includes ALL rentals (tables, chairs, linens, TENT, lighting, glassware, etc).  It does not include the cake or booze.
  • Ours worked out to about $80 a person, including booz and the venue (linens, tables, flatware, dishes etc).

It's in North Andover, MA about 35 mins north of Boston in an old estate. There's a million places on the north shore that are cheap and the caterers up here are fantastic.

I LOVE my caterer, they are from Methuen. PM me if you'd like more details.

  • I'm in Cleveland, OH....we are paying about $45-$50 for soup, salad, choice of 3 plated dinners, and a dessert assortment. Alcohol is not included in the price. I'm really glad I do not live in Boston woo thats expensive!
  • Near Toronto we are paying 69.95 (includes tax and grats) for a cocktail hour, hors douvres, plated entree, dessert and an open bar.
  • wow, i don't know where you are from but in central nj average price per head ranges generally from $100-$150.  however it's not unusual for more upscale places to be even higher.  ours was supposed to be about $125 per head but because of an inconvenience to us that was a mistake on our venue's part, we got a discount price for $110 a head. (plus tax and gratuity)
  • sorry i forgot to mention that all the prices i listed are for full open bar, cocktail hour including passed hor d ouvres and various stations, dinner, cake and usually an additional dessert.
  • Not including our chairs, chair covers and sash rentals, we're paying about $90 pp.. this includes premium open bar for 5 hours, 4 hand passed hors d'oeurves, 3 displays (shrimp cocktail, imported and domestic cheese, bruschetta), champagne toast, outdoor grilling station (steak, salmon, chicken), a carving station (prime rib and ham), a veggies station, a pasta station, salad station and then a coffee, dessert, fresh fruit spread.. A LOT OF FOOD! I'm in South Florida and I'm getting married at a country club
  • Wow!  I can't believe how much some people are paying!!  I'm from Oregon and the prices do hugely vary depending on your venue and menu choice.  We also have about 350 people, so I know that pretty much anything ends up being expensive!  The venue that we are leaning toward has a "budget friendly lunch" menu, and for a spaghetti, salad, and vegetable buffet it will be $12.95/person.  That's not including gratuity, but it's still more affordable than a lot of places.  So what you can do is try to find a venue that offers a less expensive menu, or one that lets you shop around for your own caterer.  What we've also considered is doing a "light lunch" by having carving stations (which make sandwiches) and some sides.  That can end up being pretty affordable, but it depends on whether it's really important to you to have a big, fancy meal.  We don't care so much!  ;)
