  • Solder.

And no.  I don't get why people do.  I want the option to be able to wear just one ring if I ever feel like it.

  • Nope. I am getting a nonmatching ring for my wedding band and moving my engagement ring to my right hand.

  • Nope. I want to be able to wear one at a time if I want.

    This.

I like both of my rings. But I want the option to wear the less blingy one by itself.

  • FI and I decided (note: I decided) that I will only have one ring. He wants to get me the big fancy rock; I don't want an engagement ring and a wedding ring because I can think of a zillion other things we need instead. So the compromise is that he'll get me a fancy rock but we'll use it as my wedding ring :)

Still, if we went with both, I'd keep them separate. I'd be worried I'd lose both of them!

  • no.  but I wear them on different hands, as my e-ring is not designed to have a band with it.

My sister did and no she does not regret it.  Her setting is such that if it was not soldered her band would have rubbed up againist her prongs and weakend the setting.  (the amount of time she might have only worn the wedding band did not justify weakening the setting)/

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  •  Nope. I want the option to wear only my wedding band, if I choose. I like the idea of two seperate rings very much for some reason.

  • No, and in fact, I asked the jewelry repair person when she downsized my rings what her opinion was (my rings kept spinning around something awful). She didn't recommend it, because they didn't sit flush against each other all the way around - there's a gap between the two - they are not a set. I like being able to wear the band alone if I want.

  • No, because there are times I will just want to wear my band without the e-ring. LIke on vacation.

  • I'm not planning on it.

  • Nope.  I want to be able to wear my wedding ring independent of my e-ring.
  • No, I didn't. The first time I was married, I wore my engagement ring on one hand and my wedding band on the other (they were both unique rings that were designed to stand alone). This time I only have a wedding band.
  • I wanted to solder them together, but I'm not going to due to work. I'll be an L&D nurse (most likely) in a few months, and a giant rock would not be pleasant in someone's hooha. so I'll wear the wedding band alone when working.

    Exactly this.
  • I didn't just because they're two separate things to me.

And because they're two things, I might want to wear them at different times.

  • Do you guys seriously pronounce 'solder' without the l?!
  • No.  I wanted the option of wearing my wedding band solo.
  • Yes, the 'l' is silent.
No, I didn't solder mine.  the e-ring is wide and detailed, and the wedding ring is a simple plain band.  They wouldn't solder well, so they're separate.  It's fine.

  • I probably will to keep them aligned. The wedding band has a dip in it to fit snugly against my e-ring setting...so it would probably look silly on it's own anyway.

  • I can't solder mine because they're not flush, but I wouldn't anyway. My e-ring stone sits very high and I can see myself not wanting to wear it, especially with kids around and other things for it to snag on.

  • Yes and no.

I have 2 bands and one of them is soldered to my wedding band, and the other one is my grandma's, I don't want to solder it.  I usually wear it on my right hand or I wear just that one on my left.

  • Wow I didn't expect the overwhelming response to lean so heavily towards not soldering it!

Thanks for the input, I'm still thinking about what I'd like to do. My plan for now is to not do anything with them for the first year and see if it bothers me. I don't like when they don't sit tight together but on the other hand I would like to wear the band separately.

    Thanks for your input.
  • I had mine soldered. They wedding ring looks weird alone because it has a bend that fits with the engagement ring. I never wear them separate. Someday I might get a plain band for vacations and such.
