bridal shower rsvp deadline

How far in advance do you typically set a bridal shower rsvp deadline?

Note: It's not at an event venue, there are no contracted caterers to notify of numbers. I've never planned one myself before and want to allow enough prep time.

Re: bridal shower rsvp deadline

  • When I plan them I only do 2 days before the event. I don't buy food for them before then anyway (to make sure everything is fresh, obviously haha).

I am the hostess. Not the bride, to clarify. Just never hosted one before.
  • I would say just a few days before the shower, unless you're a planner overachiever and want to know sooner :)

  • I did a week before for my friend's shower.  But I needed to get a head count to the restaurant it was being hosted at.  I did regrets only and miraculously only 2 people didn't show that didn't tell me!

I think a week before is fair, I mean, you still need to buy food and such if you're hosting it in your home...

  • A week or two. I wouldn't feel comfortable with just a couple of days -- odds are good that some people won't respond and you'll have to track them down.
  • I did Wed for a Sat shower and that worked out well.
