If he works 40 hrs a week, thats around 7.50 an hour. I dont even know how people could get by on that.

lol  Yeah, you did way better than I would have.  I would have blasted back that FI makes that much in a week, on straight time.  I make a bit more than that and there is no way I'd feel right in "bragging" about that.  It's peanuts really, not even enough to cover the mortgage.

I want to know what world she lives in that $1200/month is worth being all snooty about.  And also if that is before or after taxes.  And why she thinks it's okay to brag about such things.  It's not like changing oil is rocket science.

I make nearly that a month and I work part time as a waitress/duty manager...And I am not a well paid lady. I don't see how it is anything to brag about and really why it has to be brought up at all. "My BF got a promotion at work, it was super duper exciting" would have done.

I can't believe she called down your FI's profession. 

That reminds me of someone I reconnected with after like 10 years.  She was like, "yeah my husband makes killer cash and we just bought a brand new house... " bla  bla bla.

And then I checked out photos, 6 months after they were in their house they still didn't have grass.  Their backyard was full of mud.  Their son couldn't even play out there.  You must have tonnnes of money if you can't even put grass down.
