Bridal Makeup vs. special event makeup
I noticed that many makeup artists and salons charge more to do wedding makeup vs. special event makeup. What is the difference? Is bridal makeup harder?

Bridal make up needs to stay on longer than most special events. It also needs to photograph well, so sometimes different products are needed. My wedding make up took longer and had more layers than any special event make up I've had done.

Really? I've never seen that, but would totally believe that people do it. FWIW, my m/u artist charges the same for weddings and events but it definitely took longer. I bow to your expertise, though ;o) Hell, I'll agree with anything that has pinot attached to it...

There is no difference in how makeup is applied for any occassion. It all goes on the same, obviously how dark or light is determined by the consulation. Yes, I've seen people charging more for the bride than the bridal party here. It seems to be quite common.

It might actually make sense - maybe they do a "free" trial for the bride. Maybe they provide small samples of makeup to keep with you for touchups. It might not. That's why you've gotta call and ask. Anonymously. Heck, make multiple calls and use fake names if you want. But get the info without giving your real name and THEN book.
