Who's Here?

I know I can't be alone here! FI and I were having a pretty low key NYE, but he fell asleep already. That leaves me waiting for midnight with him snoring on the couch next to me. So- anyone here? What's going on? Happy New Year to those ahead of us!

The entire time I've been w/ Fi we've ended up staying in for NYE. The first one we were really hungover (fail), last year he was playing a video game, and this year.... 

Our friends are mostly from out of town and go home for xmas- new years so we've gotten used to staying home. I'm not a huge NYE fan so I'm ok with it.

Are the countdown shows any good? I usually just turn them on at the last minute.

I'm here getting dinner ready for when H gets home from work.  Should be about 10 minutes now.

Hiya's!  I'm here as well, in and out while hanging with Fi and watching the festivities on tv.  We're cooking some appetizers and waiting for midnight....he's fading fast though (been up since 4), so I anticipate being very bored once 12:05 rolls around and he's passed out with the pups

Hey bethrothed! Where in NY are you? That's where FI is from- Syracuse. We were there last year for xmas and I've never seen so much snow! I loved it though!

Yapuppy- thats exactly what happened with us! Fi got up at 6 w/ our puppy and he fell asleep at ten. What kind of dog do you have?

I'm from the Rochester area.  I have family out near Syracuse, though.

The snow in Syracuse is always bad.  It comes from being on the end of the lake.

He's got a hound mix (poor old boy is getting up there, I think he's about 13 now) and I've got a doberman mix, he's like 3 1/2.  They're cute together, when the baby isn't trying to beat up on the old boy, he's busy trying to copy every single thing he does.
Yours is adorable, I love that picture!  What kind is he/she?

That's how he explained it too- they get the lake effect snow and the snow from the nor-easters? We drive through Rochester whenever we drive to his parent's house.

Oh I love hounds! And I'm jealous that you have two to play together. I've already been telling Fi we have to get another dog when Emmit is about 3 so he can have a friend. 

Emmit is a he golden retriever and hes about 8 weeks old.

Hi girls. I'm here, but it's well and truly new year- 2:30pm new year's day. I am STILL in my PJs, and thinking that after we finish watching this movie (zombieland) I will need to shower and get ready for going out for dinner tonight with some friends.

I'm here.  On season 3 of the Lost marathon.  Poor DH is sick so we're barely going to make it to midnight.

Rach- shouldn't you be sleeping?? I read the boards a lot so I've been keeping up with what's been going on (I'm creepy, I know). How are you feeling? And are you in Dayton or Toledo? I thought it was Dayton!

GG- I kept trying to get the pupster to sleep in my lap but all he wanted was to sleep behind the couch so I let him. I was flat out rejected!

I'm here. My husband just got home, but he's dog-ass tired and probably won't make it until midnight. My 2 girls (11 and 8) are coloring. They are trying to make it until midnight.

Trivia for the night; I grew up just north of Rome, NY. You want to talk lake effect snows? We were literally on the edge of the Tug Hill Plateau. Our county got the most snow of any county east of the Rocky Mountains.

Sun- hows Zombieland? Fi really wants to see it.

I made a ham with a side of potatoes.  Tomorrow I'll use the leftover ham in my baked mac and cheese.

Im waiting to put cheese puffy apps in the oven. I was going to put them in now but theyre done in 25 minutes so that might be annoying to take them out of the oven and disperse with only 5 minutes till midnight, so I am preheating the oven longer so that they are done Just after midnight!!

sara- I'm really jealous. I love snow so much. We went up to lake placid last year (Fi's grandparents have a house up there) and that was the most snow I've ever seen. Cincinnati is notoriously lame about snow. They close schools with less than an inch on the ground.

ltb- my cousin brought buffalo chicken dip t xmas and it was awesome. really spicy! you should make it for b-fast. unless you've been drinking. then maybe lunch.

I should be sleeping---but my neck (as in the WHOLE thing, not the incision) hurts so bad, I cannot get comfortable. Rich is trying to get me to hold off on the vicodin; it has a tendancy to make me very sick to my stomach. So, I've been in and out on the couch all night---and now, I'm in.

And I just switch channels to watch the NYE shows---and seeing DicckClark, post stroke, is very sad. Very very sad.

Sun--it's so hard for me to understand that it's the next afternoon where you are at---perhaps I need to leave my own state (let alone country) some day soon.

Everyone's NYE sounds way better than mine. Everyone is eating good food. I love anything that has cheese in it so Nebb and bethrothed- I'm jealous.

My diet has totally gone to the wayside tonight, and I dont CARE!! i love cheese too. It is one of the top things I enjoy in life. mmmmm milk and bacteria hardened into cheese!

Not creepy :) I can only imagine how many random people out there know about my health issues....but alas, t'is the nature of posting on a national board....Congratulations on coming out of the (p&)e closet!

Oh, and I'm in Toledo! I'd much rather live in Dayton---it's nicer (in my opinion), but Toledo it is for the next 7 months....

Mmmm what kind of cheese?  I hear ya on the diet going to waste this evening. I made bruschetta with mozzarella and grated parmesan - and I will admit I'm STILL eying the havarti in the fridge. It's because we stayed in tonight and I'm eating out of boredom I suppose...

Nebb (again)- I just saw your post down below about vodka waters. You are completely correct about the sugar creating the hangover. I never have more than a single glass of juice per day, if that, so when I', out drinking cranberry vodkas all night, I feel like the crap the next morning. It doesnt help either that what we drink at home is 100% cranberry and no sugar and the bar stuff is pretty much Kool-aid.

I'm from Cleveland, Rich is from NY (and went to school in MN). He works here, I am in school---and we're moving to NC this summer--yay!

And--if you've never been to Toledo, you're not missing a thing. Just a run-down city with a lot of crime and stuff.

FI and I just got home.  We went out for dinner - raw oysters & peel 'n eat shrimp.  We got a bottle of champagne too - normally $60 on the menu, for $20.  I actually bought a bottle of the same stuff at the liquor store this afternoon for $19.99, so I'm ok with the $0.01 restaurant markup tonight. 

Rach, so you guys are there 7 months?  I wasnot sure when you were moving.

Tortis - Are you actually from Cincy?

Half the ppl I went to college with are from Cleveland Rach. And I think you're right about Toledo. 

Yup, I'm actually form Cinci and still live here now.
