Are people this clueless?

Re: Are people this clueless?

  • hahaha ang.  true.
  • Wow - I just caught up and can't believe how rude that comment is about Haiti.  People there eat mud because they don't have real food.  They make less than $2 a day, are severely malnourished and probably not really healthy.  They are worried about finding loved ones but probably don't even know where to start.  That girl needs to get a grip.

  • The pic of the baby girl with the fake flower covering her lady parts kind of creeps me out
  • ME too Roxy!  NMS.  I saw a weird name over there, I forget now what it was. Shaelagh or something??? wtf?

[QUOTE]I'm also pretty put off by the person who doesn't use a daycare that takes vouchers because poor babies have more germs.  I'm sorry, but kids on Minnesota UCare (state assistance health coverage) get better healthcare than I do.

You have NO idea how much I agree with you on this, and how much I have to remind myself that this is the internet. That thread super pi$$ed me off for this reason.  Poor people have more germs. Ya I call BS.  Maybe it's just me, but here where I am, people who are on Welfare have all kinds of things, like Laser hair removal and free prescriptions but us people NOT on welfare who can't afford private insurance and aren't offered through work, have to decide between buying groceries or buying prescriptions sometimes.

Grr. Yes People are this clueless OP. I wish it weren't so.
  • Okay I am sticking up for CNN :0 but if she watches Fox they are saying THE SAME THING as CNN. So how is CNN being biased by reporting that the poorest country in the Western Hem needs a lot of help? It's the truth! OMG she's a fucking asshole!

    Wait whaaa...
    image
  • Okay I see it now. I don't like it either but the kid in the glasses is super cute!
    image
  • Yea, and I love baby pics and even big flowers even those hats with the big flowers. But c'mon it looks like she is literally blossoming (gag)
  • I also really like Haiti Girl's line about "when something like that happens here" like we deal with that all the time.  I mean, Katrina is the last (major) natural disaster I remember and that was rough, to say the least.

  • That's shiitty. And so is the one about the bridge jumper.
    image
  • ya, the kid with the flower is kinda weird...

and who doesn't like Lady Gaga!? them's fightin words...
    image
  • Yes the glasses baby is adorable! Such blue eyes
  • Obviously, she didn't see any coverage of people wandering around NYC after 9-11 or NOLA after Katrina, or Miami after Andrew, or...
If I recall, their leader is gone, the Red Cross or another aid organization is operating from a tent because their buidling is gone; these people have no direction and no leadership right now.

Haiti is beyond pitifully poor. My uncle was there for a while with the military and the pictures he brought back were unlike anything I'd ever seen. I cannot even imagine what it is like after an earthquake like this. And once the PTSD sets in, it will only get worse. They need aid from everywhere.

Definitely weird. But did you see how cute that baby actually is?? I honestly stopped and said "awww..." over her.

My Aunt and Uncle lived in Haiti for four years and we were there for a month visiting.  Granted, this was over 30 years ago and right at the beginning of Baby Docs reign, but things couldn't have gotten any better than what they were back then.

I was telling H last night that once the aid gets to them, the aid proveded will be 100x more than some of these people have ever had in their lives.

  • And she is comparing our country to that country. Our poor people are wealthy compared to how they live over their.

GG I did not like that comment either and people thought it was funny.

  • Yes! The glasses baby is adorable as all get out.

I hope Haiti Lady doesn't have kids or plan to in the near future. If she thinks poor, disaster victims are too needy, then she is not cut out for parenting.

Yeah, that makes my stomach churn. Suicide is not a funny matter. I'm pretty sure they are clueless.

  • gg and ricks, while it's never good to wish ill on someone else...after seeing the DC area shut down becuase of jumpers threatening on the bridges and or the Metro during rush hour and blocking everything for 6+ hours, just to have the police finally knock them off with bean bags...there is a tendency to sit there in your parked car saying "really?"

  • Yeah Mrs.In I understand the annoyance, but all the virtual highfiving after the comment is kind of sad to me.

  • edited January 2010
    yes, that was sad.

I should edit the above to say that if you are threatening to jump at rush hour, it's probably for the attn, so the police should use bean bags earlier than 6 hours into the ordeal.

whatcha drinking? I think I need to join.
  • There's more than one opinion that bothers me, you guys have pretty much discussed them.

I have yet to read what's up with the baby's face in the sweatervest, he's cute in one pic and in the 2nd one he's making an awful face.

  • Ha, bean bags! I have a funny picture in my head.

    image
  • no, seriously.  They use bean bag guns to knock the jumpers off if they won't come down themselves.  None of the bridges in DC are high enough to actually die from the fall anyway.

  • Yeah, I had no tolerance for the jumper comment, either. That shiit doesn't play weill with me, for a multitude of reasons.
