How Much Wine?

My grandmother is picking up our wine from Trader Joes for us and I need to know how much we need.

We're inviting about 100 people.  I plan on serving white, red, and blush wine, beer, and two signature drinks.  How many cases of each kind of wine should I get?  Alcohol will be served for 4 hours.

Re: How Much Wine?

  • I have no idea, but I do know there are about 4 decent sized glasses of wine to a standard sized bottle. Sorry I'm not much more help.

  • I think therule of thumb is 1 drink per hour per person plus an extra for every 4 hours.. so 1.25 drinks per person per hour. About 4 good glasses of wine in each bottle.. I have no idea how to figure out how much of each type though.

  • Hmm...that calculator seems a little high, but I'm not really sure.

It was saying to serve 200 bottles of beer (we will have more than that), 30 bottles of champagne (I'll substitute that with blush), and 36 bottles of both red and wine.  That's like 9 cases of wine.
  • Whit's link is a good one. Evite.com also has a calculator, but in my experience, you get about the same results.
  • Hmm that does seem a little high.

  • That's not high at all if you're planning to invite me & Fishe!
  • I'd say 250 beers (half of 500 servings), 30 bottles of white, 30 red, and 10 blush.

  • I am not sure about beer but my wedding coordinator told me that for wine with their bottles it is 10 glasses per bottle.

That's got to be a magnum, or they're seriously cheating people.

Now, with champagne, often they short pour just enough to toast with & you could get 10 of THOSE glasses from a bottle, but a normal wine bottle pours 4 - 5 real glasses.
