Re: OMG TK Where's my morning post?

  • Are they really?

MK, you were in my dream last night haha it was your birthday so I was going to make you a card. A bunch of other knotties were there too but I can't remember who.
  • I have no idea what's going on. I still have no internet, and I can't handle knotting on my phone.
  • Well my brithday is coming up Aleigh...

    How's the house Mica?

I think we're on the dual server thing again.

  • Everything has been moved (they didn't bring a big enough truck on Sunday). The place looks like a disaster zone. only my clothing has been fully unpacked. How did we get so much ish?
  • Morning.  Argh.  Is this the morning thread?  When I click on the other I can't see any posts except the first one.

  • Yeah Bay, since this one seems to be working ::crosses fingers:: we'll go with this one.

Mica I hear ya. Our spare bedroom is stuffed to the gills with boxes we need to go through and consolidate if possible. It makes me a little ill to walk by and see the wall o' boxes sitting there.

  • Bay, did you get access to the mod board? Have you heard about anything IT related? I can check from work when I'm on a real computer otherwise.
  • How come whenever I finally have two seconds to come say hi this place is broken?

  • Where did all the posts go?! Makes me feel better that the mods have no idea, either.

I got a message from my (20-year old) brother the other day. He wants to come visit our city and sleep on our floor -- for three weeks! I had to tell him as gently as possible that that's way too long.
  • Stacks I was wondering where you've been. Gearing up for the move? I have to head out here to get to work. FBPM me and let me know how things are going!

  • It's not a good sign when first thing in the morning it's broken.

  • Morning ladies, TK broken, say it isn't so.  That would be something new.
  • They seem to have left the room cfas????

    How are you doing?
  • Good lord. I replied to you twice in the other thread Krupar. What a joke! This place is seriously peeving me off.

In awesome news-- I'M GOING TO BOSTON!! Woot!  It's even a work trip so that's going to be extra awesomeness. Woo hoo!!!!

Morning.  I slept horrible last night.

Snippy that's awesome you're going to have a work trip to Boston!

MK I hope all is going well with the new job!
  • Morning. I'm debating whether or not I want to do OT this week. I could use the money, but ugh, I don't wanna be here more than I have to be, especially since I have class and book stuff to do.

There is a school back home offering a conference for teachers, and writers and teachers alike can sign up to be a presenter. I'm going to apply. It's for children's literature, so I'm reading through the county's reading standards to come up with my proposal. I haven't decided on a topic, but I can only send in 1 for approval so I have to create an awesome one and hope I get picked.
  • That is extra cool Snippy.  I like work trips!

I am going to Minnesota this weekend for a sister fest with my three sisters.  We are all meeting from OH, PA, NY, and CO for shopping, giggling, and dining.  Can't wait to see them!
  • Good morning to anyone who gets to actually see this post!

  • Sesh, that sounds awesome! I love Children's Literature and I super miss reading aloud to a classroom of kids.
  • Me too Midge.  Thursday is Dr. Suess's birthday, lots of opportunity to read his works aloud just because.

Sesh that sound like so much fun.
  • Okay, the mods have mentioned the ongoing IT problems, but no new response from KK yet.

    Sorry guys.  Bear with us.

Yeah, this conference is more tailored to teachers and presenting ways to teach children's lit, so it's a little harder to come up with a topic. If it was a conference for writer's I'd have a dozen topics immediately, but I'm kind of blanking on what I'd be best at from a teaching standpoint.

I'm toying with the idea of how to get students connect to a story/character - ways to present the story, activities, discussions that may interest a younger audience.

I'm also trying to see if I can connect a discussion I had with my class, about presenting difficult subjects to a younger audience - war, rape, drunk driving, etc. But I doubt that will turn into anything.
  • Morning!  I just ordered our tickets for the invitation in April (big horse show).  We haven't been able to go for 2 years now, and we used to go every year.  That's going to be a busy weekend: invitation, anniversary, and H's birthday.

Gah! I really miss his birthday at schools. One year, I was a practicum student in the same room with another one from my class. We dressed up as Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Sesh, I'll try and rack my brain for you. Were you going to work with any specific genre or book? Try and put my degree back to work. :)
  • Good Morning!

I finally scheduled our engagement photos yesterday, so today marks the first day of getting into healthy habits in order to fit into the pants I want to wear for the photos.  I have 2 months and probably only 10 pounds to lose until they fit comfortably, so I know it's possible.

  • I don't think so, midge. Just children's lit in general, for a middle school audience.
  • Did anyone join an honor society at school?  I got the letter yesterday and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it or not.  Googling has left me mixed.
