Changed Wedding Plans - NEED HELP

I have recently changed my wedding plans and have no idea how to handle my situation.  My original wedding date was 1/8 with over 120 people expected.  It was all too overwhelming for me and I started feeling like I was planning this wedding for someone besides myself and my fiance.  I've always dreamed of small and intimate and it got out of control.  I have now decided to head to destination location with my closest family & friends.  Problem is....I've already sent out the save dates!!    We've also moved the date to Nov. 20th.  My original thoughts were to send something to all of the people we sent a save the date to with a picture from the wedding and a note that we just couldn't wait or something. They would be expecting an invitation around that time anyway. Thoughts anyone??!?!

Don't wait until November.  You need to tell them now, in case they have started making travel plans, seeking time off from work, etc.  Just send a note to everybody that received an STD saying "The wedding of Bride and Groom will no longer take place as planned on the eighth of January.  They will be married in a private ceremony on the twentieth of November."  Or whatever.

Wow, that's a sticky situation.  There are other girls on here who I'm sure will have better ideas than I do, but one thing I would say is don't wait until November to inform people of the change.  People may have already made travel arrangements after getting a STD.  That's what STDs are for...to save the date.

The only problem I see with that plan is the off chance that someone might have already booked travel by then, like plane tickets or something.  I think I would just go ahead and send out announcements now that say something like "The wedding of Jill and Jack will not take place on January 8, 2011 as planned.  The couple will be wed in a private ceremony in Jamaica.  Thank you for your understanding, love, and support!"

or something along those lines.  I would leave off the new date so that people don't expect an invitation to that.

Is it at all possible that people have already made arrangements to attend your wedding?  If so, I think telling them sooner, versus later, is the only way to go.

Oh man.  This is another reason why I hate STD's.  They give you bumps, make you itchy, and get you stuck in tough situations.  Other than implying that you guys are cancelling your wedding, I'd say you are kind of stuck into having the wedding you sent out STD's for.

You send out something, ASAP, to everyone who received an STD that says:

The wedding of
Bride Middle Last
and
Groom Middle Last
has been rescheduled.

The Bride and Groom will be wed in a private ceremony in the Caribbean.

The day after the wedding you can send announcements, if you wish.  I'd link the Crane's reference on this, but they redesigned their website and now I can't find it.

Thanks all!!  Luckily the Jan date was a local wedding so no one will be out of money by my change of plans!  I will be out a little but the lack of stress more than makes up for the loss. I will get something out creative in the next couple of weeks that we have rescheduled to a private ceremony in the mountains.  THANKS AGAIN!    Some of your thoughts never crossed my mind!
